Not sure it's rational, but I really dislike the Cardinals (love the Cardinal, but the extra 's' kills it for me) in spite of the fact that they have one of the coolest unis.

FYI, I've been MIA for about 6 weeks traveling and any available sports time has been spent on watching Stanford's return to the CWS. Fantastic Super Regional against Texas this weekend - GO CARD!

I saw Haniger get hit (that looks like he could be out a while), but what happened to Davis?

Why did Woody throw out the first pitch? He has no ties to the Card organization.

Ouch. Broken right forearm.

Is that season ending?
Not sure about season ending but he may be out awhile. Is it bad to say that this could be Matos' big break?

We'll see if Davis has to go to the IL.

Haniger is out 6-8 weeks with a broken forearm.

JDD has a sprained ankle and will be evaluated tomorrow. IL possible.

Whelp, it WAS a shitshow...but in a good way. Cobb danced between the raindrops and Jax/Winn were great.

I'd think the injury to Haniger all but guarantees he opts in next season. You'd think Matos is going to get the tap. VR might come back up too.

Hope JDD is ok, he was having an all-star first half.

Sole possession of 3rd wild card, only 1.5 back from 2nd

Looks like 7 teams chasing 2 slots (give or take)

The 3 division winners, so Central and then probably Atlanta and one of LA or Arizona, the other one is wild card.

So 2 wild card slots to be fought over by Giants, Marlins, Mets, Phillies, Pirates/Brewers who ever doesn't win division, Reds, Padres,

Lots of competition but we look solid among them especially as a regular season team. Very deep in position players with no superstars, lock down pen, a couple very good starters. Plus youth infusion, feeling better about them than at year's beginning.

Generally agree. We need another solid starter. Could come internally (Harry, Manaea, Strip, Wood, etc.) or externally (Stroman, Montgomery, Lorenzen, etc.)

The defense should improve through experience. JDD/Schmitt/Tyro/LWJ should be a decent IF.
