With the cap going this high we should be able to sign Hamhuis, Coburn and a goalie in the $2.5 - 3.0 range (Dan Ellis). Capgeek.com has a good interactive roster builder that lets you add and subtract players and salary. I was able to add, those 3 as well as Powe, Testwuide, Marshall and Nodl and stay just under. Had to let Carcillo, Asham and Cote go. 14 forward, 7 dmen and 2 goalies. I think you need 23 players.

yea i ran the numbers in my head and came to a similar conclusion. all you need to know is that the flyers are about 10 mil under the cap now. i seriously think that this is the route they will take and i would be ok with it.

14 forwards is a lot, especially if the 2 healthy scratches are young guys like Testwuide and Nodl. They're better off getting minutes in the AHL than watching the NHL. I'm 86% sure Carcillo is coming back.

yea carcillo and powe will get small raises and asham is gone. either way, if they do this then they will be very close to the cap.

Id love to keep Powe around he is a very versitile player
Asham as well
Carcillo I think we could do without, but in the regular season you need a good to keep things in order
If we have someone on the farm to fill that void im all for it

same. i am just going by what i have heard. they will re sign powe and carcillo and lose asham. i think they should lose carcillo and keep asham.

In my opinion, unless Homer pulls a few trades before the season starts, Carbomb stays. Powe stays. Asham is gone and we stick with Leighton because all other options either failed or the opposing GM wanted too much in return.

I think 14 usually get carried for cap purposes as I am pretty sure you need 23 players. Usually 2 forwards and 1 dman sit. The last few years they have carried Cote as the 14th so you really didn't notice more than 13. His cap hit was only a little more than $500k. I don't like replacing him with a young guy but you do need someone with the low cap hit.

I agree with everyone who would like to see Asham stay and Carbomb go! Asham has way more upside then Carcillo and can play a lot of extra roles on other lines that Carcillo can't. Asham filled in nicely on the 2nd and 3rd lines in the playoffs when we were injured beyond hope. Asham, Lappy, and powe on a energy line is a potent combo..

I guess i'm just greedy but I like Asham's demeanor but sometimes it looks like he's just floating. I like Carcillo's passion and from what it looked like so did Lavy. I would be surprised to see Carcillo let go unless he asks for more than he's worth but I doubt it considering he loves playing in Philly. It will suck to see one of them go.
