That was pretty cool.

After watching it live on the Giants feed, I jumped over to the Fish feed, and they were commenting that it was one of the coolest things they ever saw fir one team to honor a member of the opposing team like that.

De La Rosa done after 7 in Arizona. Seven shutout innings, fastball was up to 98, pretty good command.

He will have to play AT LEAST into next year, and I am not sure he has it in him. He is currents about 130 shy.

I don't think he needs it. He was a stud in Japan before coming here when he was 27. He has 1 MVP while playing for Siberia and was top 10 in MVP 4 other years. He had 5 OPS+ > 120, 10 time AS, 10 time GG, 3 time SS.

Then look at his accumulation stats...

489 SB
1314 runs
113 HR (for a guy who was NOT a HR hitter)

All in only 14+ seasons.

And this is ignoring his historical significance.

I used to think he wouldn't get it. But someone convinced me next year that there will be a team like the Phillies (or another bad team looking to draw fans) who will sign him and sell "Ichiro's pursuit of 3K" as an item. Just be part of Ichiro history
