I like Zaidi's honesty here. Most of the quote we get from him are very direct and thoughtful. He's clearly a very bright person.

Aside from Tuesday’s flurry, two outfielders from the Opening Day lineup, Connor Joe and Michael Reed, are long gone. Six weeks into the season, most of Zaidi’s preseason acquisitions haven’t panned out.

Especially the outfielders, for which Zaidi accepted responsibility.

“You bring guys in because you hope they’re contributors,” he said. “I think we’ve looked to take chances where we weren’t investing a lot in terms of giving up future assets. We haven’t made trades like that for veteran guys where their production would be more certain.


“But we’ve gotten looks at a few guys, and we haven’t gotten the type of production we were looking for. So I think it’s fair that as a front office and for me personally, I haven’t done the job of identifying guys who could help us in that spot. I think that’s a totally fair critique.”

I'm thinking someone is going to use some kind of metric to totally trash the starters performance tonight.

I'm thinking someone is going to use the lack of hitting in the top of the first to excuse the home run given up in the bottom of the frame. Cuz we all know the two are closely connected.

Gs still have an A bullpen, but their IP number is heading in the wrong direction, FAST. That series in Cinn was disastrous.
