BTW, I place the bulk of the blame for the muffed pop-out on Craw. MB was playing out of position and the SS is supposed to call off the 3B in tough situations anyway.

No way. I'd give minor consideration to Manny playing out of position to give Craw about .05% of the blame.

I hate to admit it, but you're right. As desperate as this team is for hitting and speed, it simply can't afford to play lousy defense. Craw will likely get his act together, but I've lost faith in Pagan defensively.
