— Jeremy Affeldt (strained oblique) reported all felt fine after an inning in an extended spring training game on Wednesday morning. “I put as much pressure on it as I possibly could and it held up fine,” Affeldt said of his oblique. “There’s no soreness there. It was all good.”

I'll post something longer about this, but if you look at advanced metrics like PQS, DOM, and DIS, the starters were pretty effective as a whole in April.

Yeah, without looking at the metrics I think we could all say they were all pretty solid, but were susceptible to the one bad (pitch, inning) or 2-strike location or the opposing pitchers.....

I'm not frothing at the mouth about this, just pointing out that we haven't been seeing tzill-approved starting pitching in the way we've come to expect...yet.

No doubt in my mind Cain will get it back together. Less sure of Vogelsong, he was always kind of a surprise All-star, so maybe the surprise is ending and he's going back to who we all 'thought' he was.

You would think not, it's just about control, etc. Then you actually see his current stats. Eventually, the stats are who you are.
