49ers workout former cards qb John skelton

The 49ers have three quarterbacks on their roster, but they are not finished kicking the tires on quarterbacks. Former Cardinals quarterback John Skelton, who had a win against the 49ers in 2011, worked out for the team today, a league source confirmed. News of the workout first was reported by the SportsXchange's Howard Balzer.

Skelton, 25, started 17 games for the Cardinals during the last three seasons and has a 63.0 passer rating. One of his starts last year came against the 49ers. He threw an interception and was sacked four times in a 24-3 loss in October. However, he also earned a victory against the 49ers in 2011, throwing three touchdowns in a 21-19 win. In that game he relieved Kevin Kolb, who was knocked out of the contest early with a concussion.

Please god just let this be a workout. I having lived in AZ have seen first hand how bad the qb situation in AZ was. Please no skelton, I realize his offensive line wasn't great, but I see no difference from him and McCoy.

You already got McCoy to take the league min, you have a dynamic guy in BJ Daniels who's also on a minimum rookie 7th rounder salary who can be your scout team Russell Wilson. Skeleton is not going to replace either. What more do you want?
