And grab T.Austin from WVU, the speedy WR that ran a 4.38/40. In his last 3 years at WVU this guy had 3,262 yards with 28 Td's with 273 catches. Averages out to be 91rec, 1087yards and 9Td's a year. This guy is a stud, not to mention last year he had over 600 yards rush with 3Td's. Oh yea I also forgot, he is a damn good KR/PR

I like Austin but if the team moves up it needs help on defense far more than offense.

Is this a rumor or your theory?

Is there a link or is this just speculation because we scheduled a visit with Austin?

Either way, I still support the move, mainly because Austin would give us a huge advantage based on all the bad match-ups he would allow Roman to create on offense. We already have match-up nightmares with Kaepernick and V.D, now you add in Austin playing that joker role on offense and moving all over the place. Defensive coordinators would have a lot of sleepless nights trying to prepare for us. Austin would also give us a new explosive punt returner, which just adds to his overall value.

No thanks to trading up for a midget sized slot receiver the 49ers do not need. 5'8 172lb Austin is going to get killed playing against the big boys!

Trade up for both the better wideout Patterson and the big RZ target TE Eifert to replace Walker.

Improve the D depth with vets rookies will be targeted and torched.

And i don't give a rats ass what this midget Austin did in college against boys or what he ran at the underwear Olympics i wouldn't touch him. Posters are highly delusional if they think Austin is going to walk into the NFL and be able to run around all over the field like he did in college ball against the big men. Nobody does that but Patterson at 6'2 216lbs got a hell of a lot better chance to rip some yards than the midget.

Before the underwear Olympics Austin on most boards was not even ranked in the 1st round. I hope the 49ers learned their lesson with LaFumble James smurfs get rocked and cough up the football just like LaFumble James did on the Ravens 25 yard line for a 10-14 point swing in the Super Bowl.

Not saying Austin won't be a good player but I wouldn't move up for a slot guy. All we really have right now is slot receivers. Crabs, Boldin, Manningham, Williams are all best suited for the slot. We need defensive help so I would rather do that with the 1st few picks then move up for a slot guy.

Also we have a similar player to Austin in James. I would rather use him in the "joker role" then move up to get Austin

Because bigger running backs don't have fumble issues? And he was stripped trying to get extra yards on a bad play call. Fault him for not knowing when to quit or fault the play call.

Other than both of them being very quick, Austin and James aren't similar players at all.

James has never shown the ability to run good routes and he doesn't have natural pass catching abilities. People are speculating that James could be effective in such a role, but there is no tape out there of him proven that he could, because he didn't do it at Oregon and our coaching staff rarely lined him up anywhere other than RB; and when he did line up at WR he didn't have an impact on the game.

Austin has played both WR and RB effectively and has shown that he's a homerun threat at either position. Anyone who looks at Austin solely as a slot receiver because of his size, is sorely mistaken.

Austin would play a Percy Harvin role but without the muscle and size. He can take the occasional handoff while also catching underneath passes or go routes. He isn't a great route runner and would need to improve a lot if he wants to spend any considerable time at WR.
I don't want to trade up for a gimmic player/return specialist who most likely is going to be dealing with major injury issues after he's smacked around in the NFL.

Hahaa this guy doesnt know sh1t about football. Austin is like Cobb from GB and Harvin in seattle, guys that can change a game a game around in 1 play, something WE DO NOT HAVE on this team at WR, watch more football before you post again and furthermore LJames for being a rookie ended up coming on strong at the end of the year and will be a damn good NFL player, your 0/2 but maybe thats why you only have 15 posts:yahoo:

Tavon Austin - WR - Player

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald considers the Dolphins "not likely" to draft West Virginia WR Tavon Austin with the No. 12 overall pick.

We never saw it as a likely landing spot, either. Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland has long struggled to evaluate skill-position talent, and Austin is arguably the premier offensive skill player in this year's draft. Austin could still be drafted by the Bucs at No. 13, Panthers at No. 14, or Rams at 16th overall. Related: Dolphins

Hey Punk the 49ers will not be drafting your little midget it's a smoke screen yo fool Austin is not Harvin or Cobb to suggest otherwise really exposes you as an idiot who knows nothing about the NFL and player evaluations. :omg:

LaFumble James was waste of a 2nd round pick get off his nuts he will never be a feature running back goes down faster than Debbie Downer and cost the 49ers the Super Bowl after his little ass got smoked by big Upshaw and he coughed up the rock for at least a 10-14 swing in that SB think before you post and make a fool of yourself here again you got it! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::lol:

The 49ers never reveal who they are interested in before the draft not even to the player or their agents if you had a clue you would know that.:yahoo:

Austin & Wallace would be some kinda speed at the WR position. It would look like a Road Runner cartoon.
