Not sure what purpose this serves. Is LS really in need of that much competition? Jennings hasn't exactly been slumping either. Hmmm

Yeah, the guy is a 2 time pro bowler, but Brian Jennings has been extremely consistent. He is 35 years old, but he's a long snapper. He could have 8 years left.

Not only that but they signed the practice squad/future contract to the young guy (name not coming to mind), why would we need 3 LS?

This has salary cap implications. Jennings salary will soon increase. Adding competition that might free up some cap space is something the 49ers would be looking at specially having a bunch of free agents that they would want to sign or re-sign. This is not a knock on Jennings but a necessary option if the Niners need to free up some cap room
