The 49ers have not committed a turnover in the past 18 quarters. They have committed only 10 turnovers this season. If they make it through Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams without giving the ball away, the 49ers will tie the NFL record for fewest turnovers in a season.

The New England Patriots set the mark last year with 10. The 1982 Kansas City Chiefs committed 12 turnovers.

One huge reason we'll be playing past the first weekend in Jan.

OT: Crash, you wrote "commented" in the thread title instead of "committed"

no doubt.

on one hand, Alex Smith being 'conservative' saves INT's, but on the other hand, we lose a little on the passing game. as fans we want EVERYTHING but given a choice, we should be glad for less INT's.

another area we don't think much about, Alex used to fumble too. granted not all sacks are his fault, but this year he's secured it well.

also, isn't it "haven't"?

Agree

also regarding the fumbles, when he has fumbled the ball he has been quite composed and has gotten it back and almost made some plays. Maybe this refers to bad snaps and what not but still good.

Haha...Yeah Aaron's 45/6 TD to INT ratio is precisely what I want - Guilty as charged! But, to your point, Smiths 16/5 TD/INT and 12-3 W/L are more than acceptable.

As for Smith's fumbles, Smith is actually fumbling more this year than last year, however he/we are recovering his fumbles more, thus leading to fewer lost fumbles.

Finally, regarding the has/have argument. The term '49ers offense' is a collective pronoun and therefore I believe hasn't is correct. (Note the word 'believe' in the sentence ;) )

Absolutely, Crash...and I wasn't for a second dissin' on ya, so please don't think I was. I only mentioned it because I thought you still had time to change it if you wanted to. That's all, Brother.

Just for the sake of accuracy, '83 - Bad snaps are charged as a fumble to the Center - But you are 100% correct, he[Smith]/we have recovered more of Smith's fumbles this year.

I have also noticed that the ball has bounced his way a few times which made it easier to handle.

Oh hell yes it has - once in the Philly game which allowed Smith to throw the ball away, and once in the Dallas game which led to a pass interference on Gore and a 1st & goal at the one.

Yep those 2 right there. Didn't he have one last week too? I missed the game but watched NFL replay and im pretty sure he had a snap fumble while in shotgun and he made a little something out of nothing. Even making a defender or 2 miss.

Yep, he sure did - 3rd Qtr - He collected the fumble, avoided a tackle and gained 3 yards on a 3rd & 5 - we then went on to convert the 4th & 2.

Thanks Crash, now you've just jinxed it, so the game will be at least two turnovers tougher. I thought I was going to get through this regular season with some of my beard not grey.
