Who do you guys think is the most valuable player to the 49ers on both sides of the ball?

For offense I think Frank Gore gets it, but defense is tough. We have Patrick Willis who is in my opinion best MLB in the league, we have Navarro Bowman who some think is better then Patrick Willis, we have Aldon Smith who is leading the league in sacks and might even get the sack record.

Personally though I think I would give it to Justin Smith, this guy is a beast and appears to give 100% effort every play and be a true team player. Without him Aldon wouldn't be what he is now and either would this defense.

That being said, Who is the MVP for the entire team???

What do you guys think?

Offense goes to Gore with Crabtree a close second.

Defense is tough, no one is having a standout year to seperate himself from the others but I would go with Aldon due to him in pursuit of NFL history(again)

Defense - Justin Smith (Aldon is a close 2nd)

Offense - Frank Gore since we are talking about MVP. Iupati, Staley, and Boone have all done solid jobs, though. It's more of a group effort on their part.

Offense - Frank Gore is still the heart and soul.

Defense- Aldon because the NFL is stat driven.

But Justin has cleared up most of those sacks for him. I can see it going either way, but I'm more inclined to give Justin the edge. He deserves the credit that doesn't show up on stats.

So are we going with Iupati or Boone for the OMVP then?

Alex and Aldon Smith.

Ummm...

...no.

Gore, Crabtree, the entire O-line, Manningham, Kaepernick, Davis, then MAYBE Alex.

I'm quite confident that I could "produce" what Alex does on offense, and I know for a fact that Kaepernick can.

Been drinking too much again, huh? Just kidding, but I am quite confident that you could not produce what Alex does on offense (and I, too, know that Kaepernick can). None of us, since we don't play professionally, could. And this is no compliment to Smith, it's just the truth. If any of us could, we should be kicking ourselves for not becoming an NFL backup paid a lot and then retiring. Maybe things like this is what Deep9er was referring to as attacks on Smith, though I assume you weren't serious.

But I agree in not placing Alex in any MVP discussion.
