With Crabtree I'm going to say we can pass on Welker since the only type of WR we lack is a deep threat.

With Crabs, Mario, KW, and Davis having a Welker type just seems redundant and we need guys to take the top off of defenses that Ginn and Moss didn't really do.

this makes more sense to me.

Manningham is already good at short and medium, granted he only has one year remaining. Crabs is basically a possession guy, and KW can add to this mix.

unless they view Jenkins as more of a deep threat? anyway, agree we should FIRST look to draft a Torrey Smith kind of receiver? this shouldn't require a high draft pick?

I think we lack a slot WR and a deep threat. I'm not counting Manningham as part of the mix until he's still on the roster come opening day.

You don't like Crabby in the slot?

I actually like when they line Vernon up in the slot. Especially if they're running a lot.

I wonder if they've ever lined up Joe Staley in the slot.

Welkers not my first option but I wouldn't mind them looking into him.

if he came at a decent cost I'd welcome him.

Jenkins was supposed to be a deep threat, and maybe he still will be. I did a post a couple weeks ago comparing him to Torrey Smith coming out. Smith was about a half-inch taller and 10 pounds heavier, but otherwise their measurables were very similar. Jenkins actually had the better 40 time (at least according NFLDraftScout.com). I'm not ready to give up on Jenkins just yet, but at this point it's a stretch to think he'll completely turn it around.

The only thing close to a deep threat would be Ted Ginn Jr. but he has such soft hands.

That and despite his speed he can never seem to get really open.

I'd go for that deep threat WR... we have an excess of short to medium range possesion WRs...IMO...

we need that vertical that Jenkins was supposedly suppose to fill

bowe would be a nice fit there if they went for a big splash.......

That's what I'm hoping for, but KC could still franchise him again and keep him off the market.
