Sept 10 2000 TBD 5 H 0 BB 8K
Aug 9 2001 Bos 4 hits 2 BB 3 K
Aug 20 2001 Cle 4 hits 2 BB 11K
April 18 2003 Tex 6 hits 1 BB 6 K
April 9 2012 @Col 4 hits 0 BB 4 K

All his previous shutouts were at home (in oakland, obviously).

lol, first time I read through that, I read To Be Determined on the first shutout. I am an idiot. :L

Looks like cal was right, based on those numbers yesterday really was his best complete game ever. Maybe the 2000 one about equal if they were in a pennant race.

I'm so glad we are having this argument. Did not see that coming.

I didn't see that one coming either. :heh:

MSG Brown: I thought you said you didn't have any high priced posters.
filo Donovan: Forget about Cal because he's only high priced.

;)

Not according to FIP:

2000: 1.42
2001: 3.20
2001: 1.42
2003: 2.20
2012: 2.31

So it was Zito's 4th best shutout. Can't believe Cal thought it was his best ever. :D

FIP is obviously in love with the strikeouts.

Stop posting rep-worthy posts, and I would be able to rep this.

Ultimately, this is your own fault...

Speaking of history....who would have thought that among these starters in 2008, Omar Vizquel would be the lone player still on a MLB roster.

C Bengie Molina
1B John Bowker
2B Ray Durham
SS Omar Vizquel
3B Jose Castillo
LF Fred Lewis
CF Aaron Rowand
RF Randy Winn

Was FIP the stat that said Timmeh NLDS start was better than Doc's? Hmmmm

Anyway, I was looking at the 8/20/01 game as a legit discussion game. 11 K is impressive, and only 2 more base runners. I am willing to nod to that game, but this one has so many side stories that I think it should get the kupie.

No wonder we had a crappy year that year. We had Molina leading off and Omar batting cleanup.

:bolt:

Yes, that 11K game stands out. It was against a 91 win team, as well. Still - being in Oakland vs. Colorado tips a bit towards this latest game. And Cousins(?) had a smallish strikezone yesterday.

What is it with the Giants, Cousins and home plate?

Only 6 of the 29 hitter to have PA's on our team that year still have ML jobs (Pablo, Omar, Burriss, Schierholtz, Raja Davis, Travis Ishikawa). Insane, how far we've come.
