I'm starting to turn into Stokes
And they do actually manage a hit, the runners don’t score (or even advance).
I think it is essentially a coincidental stat. Until it isn’t anymore. And at this point, it is a thing with this team.
Remember, during the first half of ‘16, this team was killing the ball with RISP. And then the all star game happened and the team broke.
I can’t wait to find out what happened to cause that. SOMETHING had to have happened. It wasn’t just a fluke.
Hitting with runners in scoring position is a fluke......
until it's been this way for the Giants for like 3 years. What in the world

So RISP hitting is not a problem on this team.2016 pre-ASB- .261 averaging 4.7 runs per game (allowed 3.90)
2016 post-ASB- .236 averaging 4.0 runs per game (allowed 3.89)
2017 pre-ASB- .263 averaging 3.933 runs per game (allowed 5.03)
2017 post-ASB- .266 averaging 3.944 runs per game (allowed 4.47)
So RISP hitting is not a problem on this team.
Gotcha...
The scoring game was essentially the same as post ASB 2016. .05 rpg is hardly “worse”.It has been. For long stretches, they were hitting in the 100's with RISP. Additionally, their RISP hits were not producing runs. Man on 2nd, guy hits a single to the OF, and the runner stops at 3rd, that sort of thing. Lack of power has something to do with this.
As you can see, last year the pitching was the downfall, and the scoring was worse than the 2016 post-ASB
I am tempted to track how the minors are doing in this regard, but so far, it is depressing. Maybe the situational hitting is over-rated, and if/when it improves, we/I will move onto something else to kvetch about.
It looked like a splinter hit posey, and Berlinger had no idea. It looked like the bat switch was instigated by Marquez.What.... in.... the..... world..... did... Bellinger.... do.... that..... for
Why Sandoval here instead of Blanco?
