Didn't see the play but if he grabbed the 2nd baseman's leg then it would be interference (based on the way Umps have been calling it) even before the new rules. Yes, it adds slightly more risk for injury but it's the way baseball has been played for ages. What's next? Is the NBA going to outlaw any type of physical contact because it adds risk of injury? Actually, never mind, I don't want to give the NBA any ideas. They might actually do that.

I can't even make fun of them. They are playing that poorly. I like what I'm seeing from the Dodgers, specifically the control from our pitching staff and the patience at the plate Puig is showing but it's hard to gauge with the Padres. I will have to wait for the series against the D-Backs, I guess.
Don't they play SF this weekend? That'll be a good test. Beating the snot out of a team with no life doesn't really count, although it can help build the confidence of hitters.

The Dodgers rookie SP Maeda now has more HR's and runs scored in 2 AB's than the Padres do in 21 innings.

You're right, I thought they were playing the Dbacks this weekend.

The innings scoreless streak now equals the runs allowed.

If it wasn't for that meddling Gonzalez with 2 excellent plays at 1st.. I used to envy the Padres for having that guy, it's been a joy to have him at 1st base as well as the batter's box these last couple of years.

He's tormented the Padres ever since he got traded to the Red Sox, good thing we got Rizzo back in that trade!

I think the Padres should have scored on that play, the tag looked high and late. Ellis also blocked the basepath. Even the Umps are forgetting the new rule.

The team record was 23, now 24. The Major league record is 26, so if the Padres get shutout then they set a new ML record for futility.

The good news is there's only 159 games left

The team who formerly held the futility record won 105 games and made the world series. I guess the Padres are World Series bound!
