Franchez pulled from his rehab stint.

I'm thinking his career is over.

Edit: Bobby Evans says its not a big deal and Franchez still on pace to return by mid May.

Hmmmmmmm

And yet, he has yet to play the field.

The big question is... Is his bat strong enough to allow him to play DH in the AL?

And even if it were, would anyone want him to. The league has a good amount of guys that can hit .290 without much pop, and almost none of them DH. If he can't throw, he should retire. 2 cents. No change.

I tend to agree. I am not a big believe that he has ENOUGH of a bat to interest an AL club.

As a lot guys on other sites have said, they will start his 3-4 week clock once he takes the field. Until then, he is out indefinitely.

Actually, I think that his "clock" started the second he played in a minor league game. They have 20 days from his first appearance in a minor league game before he must be returned to the majors. Now, they can "discover" a new injury and start the clock over, but normally he has 20 days.

ooooo

I forgot about the actual, MLB-rule associated clock...

I was referring to expectations vs deadlines.

Good point. rep

Last time I referenced the CBA, I was asked for a link. Here's the text from the 2007 CBA :

ARTICLE XIX—Assignment of Player Contracts
{...}
C. Disabled List-Assignment to Minor League club

(1) There shall be no assignment of a Player by a Major League Club to a Minor League club while such Player is on a Major League Disabled List; provided, however, that with the Player’s written consent, a copy of which shall be forwarded to the Associa- tion, and with the approval of the Commissioner, a Player on the Disabled List may be assigned to a Minor League club for up to a maximum of twenty days (thirty days for pitchers) for each injury, or reoccurrence of an injury, for the purpose of rehabilitation, sub- ject to the limits contained in Article XIII(H). Separate consent shall be required for a rehabilitation assignment for a new injury or a reoccurrence of an injury. No consent shall be effective for longer than twenty days (thirty days for pitchers).

Now, it's possible the 2011 CBA changed the rule (the last time I chimed in, on the super-2 rule, the details *were* changed by the 2011 CBA) but I haven't seen it. I invite you all to read thru the links to the CBA that I posted. ;)

Apparently he's taking grounders at AT&T, and practicing throwing to first.

I think everyone is being a tad bit doom and gloom, borderline FUG even (Yeah, i said it!), about his ability to come back.

You guys had better start well without me. My son is playing in his high school's alumni volleyball game against this year's varsity. I can't believe I am old enough to have a kid playing alumni games. Well, after June 16, he will be playing COLLEGE alumni games. :L

The Giants just released this written statement from Aubrey Huff:

”Thank you to the fans, media and Giants organization for the outpouring of support during this very difficult week. I’m especially grateful for the texts and calls from my teammates, who are like my brothers and have let me know they’re here for me.

”My goal is to get back on the field as soon as possible. To do that, I have to focus completely on getting well. I know I’m in a public job, and I’ve been one of the more open guys. But sometimes you have to pull back and work on things in private. This is one of those times.

“I appreciate your understanding and patience.’’

A couple of random notes for tonight's game:

Because Hacker is a switch hitter, the Giants have 5 in the starting lineup (Baby P, Panda, Melkman, Oxy, 6thGuy). If Noggin had started ManBur, that would have been 6 which is a Giants record.

Not much history vs. Leubke, but Panda is 4 for 9 against him.

One HR in the org vs. Leubke and it's Whiteside's fault.

No Padre ABs vs. SixthGuy.

I've got to imagine his next AB at AT&T will be met with a standing O.

And then he'll weakly ground out to second. :embarassed::embarassed:
