Since coming off the injured list on 6/28/24, LaMonte Wade Jr. is slashing .186/.296/.323 (76 wRC+) with a 12.9% BB rate, 24.6% K rate, and .137 ISO in 309 plate appearances. This is a slump that has now extended through almost 4 baseball months.

I don't say this lightly but....

He might be washed.

He always seemed to be playing on fairy dust. He just SEEMED to be a lucky ass player. Add to that his increasing age and the fact he is made of glass, I think it is fair to come to that conclusion.

I might be time to say “Night-Night, LaMonte”.

Do you think they try and wait for Bryce to let him go or nah? I guess we have VR and Wilmer. Jerar should be back in a month or so...

Those are all REALLY bad defensive options. I know JT has signed off on Eldridge’s defense, but I want him to play for a few months in the minors and get more eyeball reports on his D before I am comfortable with that option.

Anthony Rizzo is available. He has had 2 horrible offensive seasons in a row, so he likely won’t bring any offense, but at least he will bring a glove with some veteran leadership and the POTENTIAL for some offense. Or they can explore the trade market. I have no idea who would be available, so I will leave that in the fog of war for now.

Further, on Eldridge…

He still hasn’t hit well at AA or higher yet. Yes, he got to AAA last year, but that was only because that was the only level where he could get PT at that time of the season. He still has work to do in Richmond (with the bat).

I can't see them giving up assets (read: young arms) for a placeholder 1b if they expect Bryce to be ready by next year. As far as Rizzo, I'd rather hold onto LWJ in that case; just not enough upside to pay Rizzo, IMO.

I feel like he will get more time (and sit against lefties) until Jerar is ready, then Flores moves to 1B

Why not try Fitzgerald in 2 hole and Adames in 7 hole
Get his attention
Say more offense is needed to hit in the 2 hole
Maybe he needs some pressure to get going
He is likely placing a lot of pressure on himself trying to impress his new team and live up to the contract. Adding MORE pressure to him would likely have a more negative effect.

Three more bullshit ABs by Fitz, Huff, and Matos after a nice leadoff walk.

This is how you lose winnable games. Squandering ABs and mittfuckery.

Well it’s more like. This is what you’ve earned so far
Hold him accountable
Doesn’t look like he’s a fragile type but who knows?
