While I agree that Watson has been the best, by most metrics, Moronta has been better (IP, ERA, WHIP). Watson is better in Ks and FIP.

Shouldn't Pierce Johnson be in the discussion as well? Only given up 5 hits and 3 walks in 10 innings, with 8 strikeouts.

I would wonder if Bumgarner would have felt the need to play in the field himself so as to not get shown up by the youngster.

Going off memory, but wasn’t he something like 0-6 with 4 Ks going into that AB?

Sure, historical context and all, I get it. But as far as an island game, hard to argue against this game. That AB, alone, set the tone for the entire game.

Hopefully his own numbers will reflect his ineffectiveness this year instead everyone else’s numbers suffering instead.

Again, still early, but this is the best Cueto we've ever seen and that includes 2016

He has been nails, and what a bright spot in this season so far. A complete game here or there would be real nice, and give other arm a rest.

I'm hoping he and Strat and maybe Sammy can hold the SP together until bum comes back. The bp needs Mel and smith back to be running on all cyl., but maybe a surprise or two will materialize if they stay out too long or are ineffective. Hey, still none of those abdominal blows...
