Yeah call me crazy but I actually like to be home when baseball games are on. I'm fine with day games on the weekends but in the week when I'm at work, I'm all for 705 PM start times

I have to agree with this, trying to get to Fenway during a workday is an exercise in clusterfuckedness. All the train station garages are full, getting to Alewife just before 5pm is perfect for me because the cars are just starting to stream out and the trains aren't completely jam packed yet.

I'm thinking Clay Buttholz is getting ready to lay a hot, steamy dump right on the pitching rubber.

You don't have kids, though, do you?

That doesn't matter. Day games in the week from April-June and September does nothing for the kids. They're all in school. In July and August I understand it

From your perspective it doesn't matter.

Those of us with kids understand that you can often pay more attention to games during the day while at the office than we can in the evenings when where schlepping kids all over hell and Cartagena, or feeding them, or cleaning up after them, or giving them baths, and on and on.

No, but they can sure ruin your chance to watch a game at 7:10PM, no matter the month!

My son at least will watch the games with me now but he's such a sore sport...he gets livid at every Mets strikeout and every opponent's run scored. Starts throwing things, cursing the Mets, threatening to become a fan of some other team.

So yeah, he's definitely a hard-core Met.

These things ^^.

I listen to most of the games on radio, so I can do stuff with the kids at the same time. They're older and can do most stuff themselves, but they still want me to pay attention to em and love em and all that jazz.

Mine are 4 and 6, so they still need a shatload of serious hands on time. Now that they're both getting to sporting age, it's really getting to be a lot. Last Saturday, 8:30-9:30 Slink Jr soccer practice, 10:00-11:00 Slinkette soccer practice, 3:00-5:00 Slink Jr baseball practice. On top of that, since they're not self sufficient, there's all the feeding, cleaning, bathing, reading bedtime stories, and whatnot.

I'm not complaining - I LOVE being a dad. I'm just illustrating that the idea that "oh, 7:05 starts are great because I can sit down, have a beer and watch the game" is far from my reality.
