That phuking guy has to go to the bullpen.

4-3 on the road trip with 3 in Anaheim. 6-4 still in play, mostly because Hicks won't be taking the ball.

I think Randy Rod is our last pitcher with a 0.00 ERA

Yep, if you're gonna give up runs at least eat some innings to help the pen. They don't have an off day until April 28
Off topic, but these schedules are wack. Why are games being played on the east coast in 35deg weather now? Padres have had 6 away games, ChiCubs being the furthest east, we've had 13 and are on the road for 3 more. Last year our Dodger series were over in June. Random couldn't be this weird

It always seems like that but to be honest trying to schedule 162 games for 30 teams is going to have some stuff that seems 'random'. No way to make every trip be the right size or place because you can't all play where it's sunny in April.

Giants starting pitchers in the first inning in this series: 10 hits, 8 walks, 10 runs.

Argument for an opening starter :noidea:
In the Athletic Brisbee said we have pretty good options if these guys don't figure it out. Also they are pitching better than their ERAs suggest:

The Giants have a good but potentially confusing problem brewing in their rotation

Now that the Giants are in the middle of a one-game losing streak, it’s time to talk about their potential flaws. They were on a 117-win pace before the series finale against the Phillies, but they’re at a 110-win pace now, so let’s get the microscopes out.
Except this concern doesn’t require a microscope. It’s right there in the statistical record. These are the current ERAs of three of the Giants starters:
• Robbie Ray — 4.19
• Jordan Hicks — 6.04
• Justin Verlander — 6.75

Ray’s ERA doesn’t seem that worrisome on the surface, but he also leads the league in walks. That’s 60 percent of the Giants rotation with less than stellar results so far. That’s important, considering the Giants organization is one of the few with multiple options in the minors, as well as one very notable option on the major-league roster.
Start with the disclaimers. We’re talking about four starts. After four starts last season, Blake Snell’s ERA was 11.40, and a few months later, he got $137 million from the Dodgers. Probably paid out in $30,000 annual payments until the year 6591, but that’s not the point. There’s still a lot of season left.
If you’re already rolling your eyes, there’s more apologia coming. Here’s the final pitch from the first inning of Ray’s most recent start:
And here’s the last pitch he threw in the game:
At the risk of overstating it, those are perfect pitches. Unfathomably nasty, dirty, rotten pitches. I washed my hands three times after pasting the videos into the article, and I still feel unclean. However, you’ll notice that the top video is from the first inning, and there’s a four-spot already on the board. The bottom video is from the fourth inning, which was as far as Ray could get in the game. The pitches are nasty in isolation, but they were surrounded by uncompetitive and/or hittable pitches.
