Twins are saved

Twins signed OF David Murphy to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Rochester.

LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune says "Murphy won't spend much time in the minors," which means the Twins' current outfielders are all on the hot seat. Murphy was released by the Red Sox at the end of spring training and spent two weeks scouting for a new gig -- one that would quickly result in major league playing time. The 34-year-old could find semi-regular starts soon with the badly-slumping Twinkies.
