Offense sure not getting it done these past two games. Our pitchers only gave up 3 runs yesterday and 2 today, no excuse not to win.

m's utterly dominated in 3 of the last 4 games.

getting that old familiar feeling. hope they dash it away on this road trip. the m's tend to like the road a tad better. :)

1 run in last 17 innings. Leftie power at its best.

if not for a string of errors by the a's on fri, the m's may very well have lost 4 in a row

so there's that, i guess

our pitching has been very good, and rangers pitching is supposed a shambles, and we get them for 4 games, so there's that, too

Nothing changes when you add one stud hitter while losing last years best hitter. Until the M's learn that you have to add to what good hitting you have and not replace it, it will just be more of the same. I guess having Hart 60% of the time is a half step forward, but using Morrison is a half step back.

Watching the last two games you can really see why the A's have been light years better then us the last few years. The difference in plate approach/discipline is night and day. The A's work counts and take advantage of mistakes. They didnt always get hits but they got Ramirez and Young to throw a lot of pitches early and got them out of the game. M's hitter meanwhile seem to swing at the first hittable pitch or swing at garbage in the dirt when they have two strikes. The difference between the two teams isnt talent, but ability to be patient at the plate.

i didn't realize it was that bad

again, really hoping it's mostly because the a's are really that good

and really, our pitching has been pretty damn good despite the make-shift rotation

i don't think anybody can accuse me of being a glass half full type person, either, lol

I would agree with that. I haven't checked, but I also think they have more experience in their lineup, 1-9, than we do. It just makes a difference when you are talking we have about 7 players in our lineup that came into the year with less than 1500 MLB AB's. A lot of hitting coaches say you can't even start to figure it out until you have at least 2500 MLB AB's.

It was his decision to leave a lefty specialist in against Cespedes.

Even I could tell Cespedes was going to put good wood on it. He was sizing him up the whole at bat.

Head scratcher for sure.

That's just making excuses for players that they like. Nobody thinks we need to see Montero more before he figures it out. 2,500 ABs is equal to 4 full years!! Any player worth keeping figures it out long before 4 full seasons. Maybe its 2500 ABs before players reach their full potential?

Always liked Kazmir, crafty lefty any club would like to have IF he is hitting his spots. Good to see him aging like a fine wine in the Bay Area now.

I wish his season all the best.

That would be figuring it out. You can't reach your full potential until you figure it out which is around 2500 AB's. Ted Williams use to say that hitters need 3000 AB's in the minors before they should be called up. I think 2500 AB's is dead on when talking about guys coming up around 22 like they do these days. Even Bryce Harper has struggled at times and he is considered the next big thing. When he gets to 2500 +/-, look out. There are always the Trout's and Griffey's of baseball, but we aren't talking those guys. We are talking the Ackley's, Smoak's and Seager's of today.
