In a 9 inning game that weren't strikes. That's just against the Cubs. I'm sure there were some against STL too. Just a horrible strike zone
Yeah, it's pretty brutal when the umps are being that generous. These catchers deke these umpires so much it's really rather comical. Kind of interesting how catchers have made this into an actual skill. What I love most is not only when give pitchers the outside strikes but also the inside strikes, the low strikes, and the high strikes.
Makes it almost impossible to hit.
That's acceptable for close pitches but near half those pitches were 6 to 12 inches off the platePitch Framing, pitch framing, pitch framing. It may technically be ump incompetence, but it does seem to be a skill amongst catchers.
Yeah, there are some that are really just going to make you scratch your head. I find myself being surprised at how far outside a well framed pitch can be on occasion, however. I expect more from a professional umpire in the playoffs, however. Kind of annoying to see, I won't lie. That's acceptable for close pitches but near half those pitches were 6 to 12 inches off the plate
Well Molina is one of the best and it's no surprise he gets some calls and I rarely even talk about balls and strikes because that's a tough job but tonight was just really badYeah, there are some that are really just going to make you scratch your head. blah blah blah ump incompetence, blah blah blah
I hope you are not just going off that pitch track shit. If there was anything to give the ump a run for his money on stupid, it was that thing.
That strike 3 pitch on Grichuk was a nice pitchers pitch. The tracker had it like 5 feet outside lol

They have been measuring it as well. It was one of the big calling cards for Grandal when the Dodgers made that trade. Grandal is supposed to be one the best and Ellis is supposed to be one of the worst.Pitch Framing, pitch framing, pitch framing. I thought it was the other way around with Ellis? Or maybe that was gamecalling with Ellis. Would be interesting if Grandal/Ellis has opposite strengths defensively. They have been measuring it as well. It was one of the big calling cards for Grandal when the Dodgers made that trade. Ellis is a good game manager and a decent-ish defender. His pitch framing is terrible, but he knows that and started to really focus on it last winter.I thought it was the other way around with Ellis? Or maybe that was gamecalling with Ellis.
