Stay classy, Dave Tippett - Your team has been totally dominated in this series, stop whining about officiating and embellishment. You were lucky Morris and Doan were available to suit up for game 3.

Dave Tippett: Game is turning dishonest - Cross Checks Blog - ESPN

He came off as thoroughly demoralized throughout the press conference as you can tell that this loss was a tough one to swallow for the Coyotes.

And Darryl Sutter's reaction to the diving insinuation?

"I didn't see that. We didn't complain last game." lmao! I love this guy!!

all true but lets not give Dustin Brown a total pass

more power to him, probably the best diver in the league ... Kesler the worst

Ex-referee Fraser: Brown hurting his reputation with diving | ProHockeyTalk

My feeling is, (1) yes, it’s true, Brown suckers people into taking penalties and one of his techniques is to hit someone and then go down easy when the player retaliates; (2) the key here is “WHEN THE PLAYER RETALIATES.” If you don’t want the penalty, don’t retaliate. If you retaliate on Brown a little, he’s going to make it look like you retaliated a lot. Too bad for you. Don’t do things that are a little illegal if you don’t want Brown to, um, direct the ref’s attention to your illegal actions. After all, it’s not like little retaliatory cross-checks/elbows/punches/etc. are allowed. They’re not allowed at all; (3) if the refs think Brown is diving/embellishing, which he sometimes is, then they should call it. If they don’t call it, then why shouldn’t he continue to do it.

In game 2 I think Brown was called for diving on the play with Smith not because of that play but because of the preceding play. When Doan boarded Lewis, Brown's arms went up in outrage to draw the referees' attention (which they don't like), and it was only seconds after he had done the exact same thing on a play where he was slashed. Both penalties were going to be called anyway. I think the referees were making a point to Dustin Brown, that being "We're not blind and we are perfectly capable of calling the game ourselves. If you want to show us up, then we will be happy to let you sit in the box for two minutes."

As this was not their literal explanation and I haven't heard anyone else suggest it, I don't think they got their point across, but I heartily believe it's what happened there.

They should have just called Brown for unsportsmanlike conduct on that very play. If I was reffing it, I would have.

Kings-Yotes game starts at noon, PST, at the Staples Center.... Clippers game starts at 7:30 PST...

How many overtimes do you think it would take to delay the NBA game? That would be funny to me.

The officiating was piss-poor in game 3, so Tippett's not totally off.

He may be a hypocrite (though we've had that same conversation about virtually every coach in the league this year), but he still had a point on a couple of those calls, IMO.

was there a penalty for this?

Yup but Doan couldn't keep his composure and retaliated which meant both went off. Had he kept his cool Doughty would have gone off and offset Oliver Ekman-Larsson penalty earlier.

Not quite. Watch the replay. The ref isn't going to call anything against Doughty until they get up and the pushing and shoving ensues. You can tell because a) the ref is staring straight at Doughty and Doan from the back corner (see :06) and doesn't have his arm up and b) because the Kings pick up the puck, carry it up the ice, and complete several passes, and the whistle finally blows about 7 seconds later.

Hmm I see what you're saying but looking at the box score they both went off for holding. That is why I was assuming the call was on the takedown.

Probably won't be a factor, but I wonder whose bright idea it was to fire off streamers and confetti after the Game 3 win. That could be one of those bad karma things going forward.

Very interesting. It could be a problem esp if both of these goalies have a great game. A multiple OT game would be problematic for the crew at Staples.

If that happened they would move the Clippers game to Monday. The time to clear out the fans from the Kings game (if they win the WCF there would be the presentation plus pictures), then clean and change over to the ball game would take a lot of time.

They called a hold on Doan too.

Total nonsense.

I am not sure where Doan's hold occurred either...but I think they wanted both guys off since tempers were flaring. They didn't want things to get out of hand so the solution taken by most ref's in that position is to send both to the box.

I was watching the Lakers v OCK and in game 2 after the OCK victory the same thing happened. Streamers came down from the rafters

If NY and the Caps series says anything about karma with streamers and confetti then no. MSG had both after game 5 win

True, Even if the Kings win in regulation it would be a mess to clean up and get ready for the BB game.

I just read that the Staples Center was the busiest arena in the country...even busier than MSG.

Which is fine, but holding, really?!? Couldn't even call it roughing and at least have it be something he actually did. The refs let it get that far by blowing the initial call though, IMO. Call the tackle right away, Doan possibly doesn't respond the way he did.

they did it after every home game win in these playoffs except for the Vancouver series.
