what i've noticed, and i don't have stats to back it up, is contact with risp seems to have plummeted. a few years ago craw was most locked in at the plate with runners on. now it's a flail-fest
Also, in looking at him, he could stand to lose 20 lbs or more. That will improve just about everything.

Here's your numbers for his at-bats with RISP from the last five years:
2015 - .294/.371/.485
2016 - .289/.368/.456
2017 - .270/.304/.412
2018 - .212/.351/.314
2019 - .222/.333/.364

His flailing actually reached a peak in 2017 and has since become a bit more patient, but not near what he was doing in 2015 and 2016. His slugging has plummeted each year before coming up a bit this year. Basically, his RISP at-bats seem to generally reflect his overall numbers.

Happens to EVERY player. Every single one. The only question is when. With Craw it seems that question has been answered. I love that cat but it is what it is.

Now, we thought the same about Hunter Pence too...maybe he should call him for a referral to whoever helped him rebuild his swing

Pence has always been a fitness fanatic. Crawford...not so much.

Just having help with the swing in the offseason doesn't guarantee that it will stick: Mac.

I was just poor enough to get into a Jerry West camp for underprivileged kids before my senior season. His jump shot tips were gold, Jerry gold! Alas, it didn't stick.

granted i'm not close to a stats guy, just going on gut feel, a few years ago my clutch hitter of choice was bcraw - unfortunately as your stats bear out that is no longer the case. when we've talked about burning the roster or not, i've always lets-keep-#35 guy. however given decline in risp and defensive decline, despite his bay area roots, i'm ok with a ss upgrade or at least a trade for future potential

He's a few years out, but we've already got massive future potential in Marco Luciano. He may not be ready until 2023 at the earliest, so that probably means two more years of Crawford, at least. His contract runs through 2021 and, unless his decline sharply continues, he may get extended out another year or two, to whenever the Giants feel Luciano is ready. Of course, given FZ's penchant for rotating through players, the more likely scenario is a few shortstops in the next 4 to 5 years before Luciano, or maybe even Luciano traded for some starting pitching.

He has also been gracious in ceding playing time to young outfielders since he came back from his injury and still wants to play with Texas again next year.

It's not really ceding playing time when you're mostly a DH though...

Except that the young outfielders are pushing other guys into the DH spot, affording Pence fewer ABs. He has played about a quarter of his games this season in the outfield.
By the way, if Pence can maintain his slugging percentage of .565, it will be the highest of his career.

And he played in some other hitters parks before... Then again, it's 2019.

Mac must have stopped using him before the Mariners picked him up.
Duvall used him, but he was only successful for about a year.

He worked with Sandoval for a while, but his methods didn’t work on him.

Duvall may be having a resurgence with the Braves. He's not getting on base at a very good clip (which is typical for him) but his slugging is at .514 right now, in about 80 at-bats since being recalled.

:gaah: at .333 for the Mutts in limited at bats. Isn't he a New York guy? Grew up and went to college there? Good landing spot.

He was always rumored to be traded to the mutts. He grew up a mutts fan.

It worked out well on the timing. The Mets just lost Robinson Cano (their own 2nd baseman putting up disappointing numbers), possibly for the rest of the year, when Panik became available. I'm glad he was able to land his dream roster spot so quickly.
