Lowry’s assist numbers are even down a bit even though he is playin 37 mpg.

He is shooting poorly from the field and 29% from 3. 12 ppg from your best player in 37 mpg. That is awful

How is Lowry their best player?

He has never been that.

When you stop trying to compare him to stars and compare him to 3rd and 4th options like he should be, he actually starts coming out looking fairly solid.

Lowry is Toronto's 3rd best player. But their 2nd best player is still young and inexperienced.

To be fair he is a 5x all star and I don't usually compare 5x all star to 4th options. He shouldn't be looked at as their best player either though

True.

Then again,

Only reason he is a 5 time all star is because the East has been hot garbage in terms of depth for most of the decade.

If he played in the West, he would be a 0 time allstar. In most eras of basketball with average talent distribution across the league, Lowry would be a 1 or 2 time all star kind of player.

His resume inflates his status, but go back and look at East all star rosters over the past 6 years and you will see what I mean. There are some names on there with no business ever being all stars.

That team was so frustrating. If it wasnt for ridiculous Lebron they wouldnt have made it to the ECF’s. He had an unbelievable Toronto series too and playoffs in general
Agreed, but they did have a ridiculous Lebron and he counts when comparing the 2 teams.

I agree with this. I'm sure he has more AS appearances than Dame due to simply playing in a weaker conference not loaded with guards as the West is.

Yep.

Here are a few who have made it since 2014:

Roy Hibbert
Goran Dragic
Kyle Korver
Jeff Teague

That is just a few.

Bit saying those guys can't play, but probably shouldn't be allstars.

Not sure he should survive if they win.

Totally different situation from D'Antoni, IMO.

Philly probably has the second most talented roster in the NBA. Yet their play is uneven and uninspired at times. Brown can't for the life of him figure out how to use Simmons.

Philly has underachieved this year.

Why is there no game today? On Thursday, I was assuming that one or both of the Raptors-Bucks and Nuggets-Blazers series would have games today. Sucks.

He's not.

But, he gets paid like it.

Lowry is overpaid. A lot of that is because Toronto has to overpay to retain players. If Toronto had offered what they thought he was worth, he would have bounced. We saw it with Vince, we saw it with Tmac, we saw it with CB4. They can afford to overpay so they did to retain a player they wanted to stick around. Simple as that.

A lot of players are overpaid near the end of their contracts as they age. This is not just Lowry this is a lot of NBA players

Been thinking about this....

If both teams play their absolute best, I think Philly wins.

But Toronto is a lot more likely to player closer to their best than Philly is.

For that reason, I am taking Toronto to win this game and advance.

Either way, the losing team is likely to face a ripple effect that could impact their ability to contend in the future.
