Now do you still think we can’t keep our d/line together ? You think paying sherf 18 mil will financially ruin us ? 140 fucking mil is plenty .you could pay Allen Mac Payne chase and sweat 20 mil each and still have 40 mil left and we haven’t made cut one

Nobody ever said it would ruin us...it doesn’t make it smart. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

I have been told 1000x by people “ we don’t have the money “ to resign our own period , let’s give up this guy to get this guy because we can’t resign him . I just blew that out of the water because no way we avg 20 mil per resigns . Add to it every team will get a windfall with the cap going up so wage scales will also change in accordance .

No...we can’t keep the DL together.

Ioniddis...will cost around 20 million in 2023
Allen...will cost 20+ million in 2022
Payne...will cost 21+ million in 2023
Sweat...will cost 25-30 million
Young...will cost well over 30 million in 2025

Then there is Tim Settle. What do you think he will cost in 2022? I am guessing at least 15 million.

Now you want Scherff at nearly 20 million/season.

What about Terry McLauren? That will be 25+ million.

What about Kendall a Fuller in 2024?

What do you think Logan Thomas will cost next offseason? That is another 10 million per season.

How about JDM? Tarik Cohen is 6 million. JDM has earned at least that.

What if TH is half way decent...not good but decent. You are looking at 20+ million there.

We don’t have the money to sign our own to 3.5 million more than every guard in the league, especially when the current cap went down 15 million. To think Scherff on the open market demands that much is asinine.

You blew nothing out of the water. I just posted the costs of our DL in the coming years. If you think we are paying that, then you are a fool. Explain why our starting DL won’t cost 20+ million each contract. You just stated how wonderful these TV contracts are. Do you believe that will make player demands go down, or even slow them?

First off no one is paying all of those guys 20 mil a piece . I was illustrating the stupidity of saying “ we don’t have the money “ to resign our guys . We absolutely will and every team in the NFL will get a set windfall in 22. With more money to spend teams will pay more and wage scales will in fact change . We have 140 mil . Cap issues are not an issue . And paying 18 mil for one year doesn’t bug me when what we have on the roster has a combined 2 snaps . Oh wait let’s bring in Martin

So you are saying our DL isn’t good enough to demand market value? Market value for every one of those guys will be over 20 million.

The market for DT is over 20 million. As a matter of fact, 20 million on a brand new contract this season would make them tied for 3rd.

The market for DE is over 25 million, and that only gets you in third place.

You haven’t wanted to give Scherff 18 million for this season. You want to give him 18 million every season, and you would probably go to 20-25 million if that is what he asked for.

The cap will go up every. Year . And contracts can be structured different ways

And again 18 mil for one year is what we are on the hook for . That’s the only fact out there

Will it? The NFL took a 4 billion dollar loss in 2020. They could easily take another loss in 2021.

The cap did not go up in 2021. Eventually, there will be increases again, but there is no guarantee it will happen in 2021.

Contracts can be structured in different ways. But you look at it in annual value.

I don’t know where you get your DE and DT numbers but. 19.3 is the tag number for DE and DT is 15.5 mil and those are based on the avgs of the top 5 at the positions
So at worst you don’t approach 25 to 30 mil for a DE or 20 for a DT let alone BU ones like Settle or Ironman

The WFT has olenty of money to resign practicaly whomever they want to in the coming years.

They wont want to resign all of their guys anyway, due to poor play, or injury history, or a rise of another player, or a cheaper replacement.

Ryan Kerrigan and Ryan Anderson are perfect examples of why they’ll be just fine - both are gone this year, and neither will hurt THAT much in terms of product on the field (though we’re al sorry to see Kerrigan go, I’m sure).

GK doesn’t see it that way . He thinks paying 18 mil for a OG for one year will nullify the new tv deals , that Covid will last forever and no one will ever see a live game or buy any merchandise ever again . He doesn’t believe more revenue means more wages in the NFL set up . He doesn’t believe that when all teams get at least a 50 mil injection to their individual caps that wages won’t go up .

I never said a one year deal for Scherff would nullify new TV deals. I said paying Scherff 18/ is stupid because it is three million more than any other guard, a position most in the NFL don’t invest much money in.

I never said COVID will last forever. I said we don’t know how long the effects will stay in football.

Actually, I am the one who quotes the CBA and cap is based on the revenue.

Show me when they get this 50 million dollar injection. Is it in writing?

You can stop sensationalizing what I say. Try to stick to the facts Mr. Moderator. Facts like you stating we should basically pay Scherff whatever he wants.

Look at the value of the contracts for the top DTs.

Look at the value of the top DEs.

This is the market. The franchise tag is not the market. The franchise tag is based on salaries.

You have talked about keeping our DL together. Ionaniddis is not a back up. He was a starter, and our most productive one at that. If he can stay healthy and keep producing, he will cost more than you claim by a large margin.

Tim Settle has been extremely productive. When he comes up in FA, you don’t think people will be looking to take him off our hands?

These are numbers from Spotrac...

Joey Bosa, DE, 27 mil/ season was signed to start in 2021.
Myles Garrett, DE, 25 mil/season was signed to start in 2021.
Demarcus Lawrence, DE, 21 mil/season was signed and that started in 2019. Prices have gone up and he is nowhere close to being as good as Bosa, Garrett, Sweat, or Young.

Aaron Donald, DT, 22.5 mil but that started back in 2018.
Deforest Buckner, DT, 21 mil but that doesn’t start until 2022.
Chris Jones, DT, 20 mil starting in 2020.
