I would think he'll be good value vs. upside signing, but I don't expect he'll reach that upside because he's a knucklehead who has had COVID approximately 38 times.

Way I see it Leafs have at least a 50% chance of getting 50 quality starts in goal with this tandem.

It's still not great but it's better than the alternative (which was two AHLers lol).

I think it's an interesting/decent trade for both:

Best vs best, I would way rather have Haula over Zacha. Injury worries, but overall he's a more rounded player.

I suppose all the doom and gloom I'm reading at a Calgary Flames site is to be expected, but that's still a pretty good team in my mind. Tough to replace #13 obviously, but it should provide opportunities for other guys to step up.

If I'm Calgary I'm all over SJ trying to get Timo Meier (or even Hertl). They're even in position where they could offer to take Vlasic off their hands (someone they're apparently really trying to get rid of).

I think something like that at least gives Tkachuk the view that they're not folding. And if he still wants out, you cash in on a top 20 player and can still do more.

Haula has always been underrated, IMO. Nice deal for the Devils, especially if it opens space for a quality UFA.

If they're going full blow-up I'd see what's out there for Karlsson at 50% retained. He was pretty good last year when healthy. If the Leafs hadn't kept Rielly I wouldn't have hated that.
