So after 2 games it looks like the M's need to pitch every game damned near perfect and hope one of our hitters can run into a ball somewhere to have a chance at winning.

What am I missing?

Yep, that’s how it was last year, and this offense is last years offense basically … M’s did nothing to address that weakness… With our good pitching we’ll be in games, lots of grind outs, but inevitably not enough offense to get it done … It’s maddening we’re passing up this window with the amazing talent we have 1-5 pitching … M’s ownership has no interest in a World Series, they showed us that clearly the last couple off-seasons … This team will never sniff a title with this ownership …

Something something batter's eye something something marine layer. Ignore that Vegas scored 7 runs in the exact same conditions of course.

SITUATION 1: Bottom of the 6th inning, Mariners down 1-0. Runners at first and second with one out. Jorge Polanco at the plate.

THE PLAY: Polanco, who was 2-for-2 at the time, elected to bunt the ball to third base. It was listed as a sacrifice and the runners moved to second and third, but there were now two outs. Rowdy Tellez then struck out, ending the threat.

THE RESOLUTION: Plenty of Mariners fans and media were confused by the decision, including me, but after the game, Polanco said that he bunted on his own and was trying to take advantage of something he saw on the field.

insanity defines this team... Doing the same thing and expecting the same results year in and year out... With the same players from last year, do they really think they are all of a sudden going to start hitting?

Who knows what he did or didn’t see but the great baseball guy in the sky knows that in that situation especially with a left-handed hitter at the plate you let the guy swing away if he pulls the ball to the right side of the infield and they don’t roll a pair You still will have guys at second and third or first and third at the least if they go for the force play at second and don’t get the second out at first.

It just looked like the dumbest thing in the world to me when I saw the computer. Tell me that he sacrificed bunted and it’s just as stupid if you bunt it intentionally trying to get a hit. How often do you lay down a bunt intentionally and expect to get a hit ?? maybe one time out of seven.

Hell, the way the entire entire team is hitting especially the top of our lineup. You might tell them all to bunt until further notice. It’s like maybe one out of seven is a pretty good batting average for them. Everybody just bunt the ball hoping to get on. it beats striking out and everything else they’re doing to Make outs

didn't polanco show bunt on the pitch right before the one that he bunted? i'm almost positive he did, but i could be wrong.

He did because he thought he saw something. Dumb. Hit away.

No it was a very dumb move but my point was that it was his dumb move and not Wilson's. I know you give hitters freedom, but hitters have to be smarter than that. To me, there is no advantage to laying down a bunt for a hit just to load the bases for a lesser hitter which would have been the case in that game. And agreed, the chance of a bunt hit is about one in seven or worse with a guy with his speed.

seems like whatever he thought he "saw" would've been mitigated after that first attempt lol.

like you said, go get a fucking hit. especially since he hit so well the night before.

and i will put that on dan if he's giving an unproven piece of shit like polanco any freedom at all. i also put an idiot 3rd base coach on dan if he doesn't get a clue and fast.

this is a direct continuation of last season...probably because it's pretty much the exact same cast of regulars along with some totally unremarkable additions.

I’m living in Ohio now so I’m not able to see Mariners games anymore on TV so I’m not sure about his at bat. I was watching the live game as part of my MLB app on my phone where it just shows the Hitter and where the pitches are located and tells what happens.

But I am able to watch the Mariners game tonight right now because it’s featured on the MLB channel being shown out here

Three hits in two innings and a run scored. I hope that doesn’t mean they go hitless for the next five innings.

For Christ sakes!

Even my Little League’rs knew to freeze on contact when the balls hit right at you when you’re at third base with less than 2 outs.

Julio is a dumb ass
