and everyone gets a blue or white t-shirt depending upon where they're sitting? Are the handed out before every game or do fans come with them?

It's almost cult-like behavior. One of their chants is "OKC".. which is bizarre to me... just chanting your team's initials over & over & over... why?

Whatever the reasons .. I just hope it doesn't spread. I muted it last night.

As far as the t-shirts go, I know in Utah they would leave the shirts on the seats so people could pick em up when they arrived. It was a playoff only thing.

A as a

I think your reaction is what is bizarre.

Fans are correctly heavily invested in their team. All of this makes for a better atmosphere.

Fans should have fun at the game while cheering their team on.

I expected more of this pushback actually. But I always thought the wave was stupid too. The incessant chanting would drive me nuts. Different strokes.

I will say this.

Experiencing a live sporting even in a championship atmosphere like this is a bucket list must for every sports fan. Attending a regular season game, or even an early round playoff game just isn’t the same.

That being said, after having that experience, I always prefer to watch the game on TV over attending because to me, taking in the atmosphere is not worth the hassle/time of traveling to and from the arena and possible bad view of the actual play.

I can watch from my couch, see a front row level view with advanced replay viewing capability and I can go to sleep as soon as the game ends.

Win, win, win.

I've attended an NFC Championship game ('72) and a World Series game ('06). I had great seats both times and my team won both games so they were great experiences. Generally I agree with you though.

People pay their money and can act how they want. You not a college sports fan? This is that on steroids. The chants are very cool.

OKC strikes me as a college atmosphere. Overly excited fans who haven't been there before.

Lmao, on the contrary college wise we have been there more than most. It’s hilarious to see people doing what their fans are too lazy to do. The sour grapes are hilarious.

Being in the crowds is definitely a young persons game. Plus the TVs keep getting bigger lol.
Complete agree. Nothing is better than being in the crowd for a big game until you reach an age where you’ve been there done that. Also sports don’t matter to me as deeply as they did when I was young.

No I am not a college sports fan and you're right... but not about the how cool the chants are. People who prefer college sports are not really sports fans.. they're college fans/supporters. I have several relatives like that. They're all about the S.U., mostly hoops but football lately as well, and can name all of their starting lineup, but they don't even know what teams are in the NBA finals for example.

That’s not true of the Thunder fan base I assure you. The college people around here know the game of football better than most and it won’t be any different with basketball. You are over generalizing in this case.

I am generalizing but I think I have a pretty solid foundation... though to be clear and more precise I'm talking about a subset of college sports fans who dismiss the pro version of a sport in favor of the college version.

I didn't say anything specific about YOUR colleges, just in general. No sour grapes, just used to fans that expect greatness, not shocked and excited by it.

Interesting thought, and yes this has been a college state until the Thunder. But in terms of historical relevance it’s been a college state on steroids. You are seeing that now. OU has enjoyed fan support the likes of which most pro teams dream of, transition period going on.
