Shai's winning the finals MVP and it really isnt all that close.

One guy is average 32.4 points. The other is averaging 25.8. That's not that close.

Even the steal and blocks go HEAVILY to Shai this series.

What was it again? That he will be the best basketball player of all time right?

He said Kawhi Leonard was JDub’s floor.

Honestly it is the kind of comment that can’t be right no matter what.

Even though JDub has looked a lot like vintage Kawhi in the Finals.

I think Shai win it too assuming OKC finishes the job.

But it is very close. JDub has done more on the rest of the stat sheet.

The reason I believe SGA likely wins is because when it is close, the nod almost always goes to the guy who has been the best player all year.

Except for 2015.

I edited my post quickly. In all the other catagories Shai is trouncing Williams on the stat sheet too.

Steals and blocks yes.

JDub drawing tougher defensive assignments which IMO cancel that out.

Assists/rebounds basically a wash.

I have it as SGA too.

But it is close.

Another massive game from JDub could swing it.

I compared him to Kahwi, that was one of your hot takes you said you didn’t want to hear again. At this point it was a very valid comparison.

I stand by my comment, it’s looking better all the time. Jdub is a much stronger Kahwi.

I agree with what Stephen A said last night, what Shai is doing against double and triple coverage is phenomenal and is making things much easier on Jdub. These guys are complimentary players the likes of which we seldom see. Co MVPs works for me, they have to win though.

He very possibly could end up being better than Kawhi.

Like I said the first time you made the comment…

In no way is that his or anyone’s floor.

It was a foolish thing to say and you can’t be right no matter how it actually turns out.

This is the first year of many where Jdub is the best 2 way player in the game.

You not watching? There is absolutely nothing Kahwi does that Jdub doesn’t do. I’m listening, name it.

Kawhi is/was a better overall defender, and we have not seen (its only his 3rd year so very early) him be the 1 on a title team.

Its a lot easier to get your looks when you have a player the caliber of SGA out there.

That said, his trajectory looks very bright, as tlance pointed out its difficult to be right in that the time you said it was so pretty bonkers to make that claim.

Kawhis overall career has been derailed by injuries, but prime Kawhi as a floor is an extremely wild take. To set Kawhi as a floor you are saying his ceiling is a top 10 player ever basically.

Like I said, I likely was trying to piss some people off, that happens here lol. But I’ll own it, there is nothing you just said that can’t happen. Jdub will be defensive player of the year eventually I think, he has that skill set.

I could hit the lotto tomorrow sure, and Jalen Williams could become a top 10 all time player.

You think Kahwi is top 11 all time player?

Not at all, but implying someone's floor is a top 30ish all time player would mean you're setting his ceiling extremely high. I think if your take is "I see him having as good a career as Kawhi" that doesnt stand out as much. Still a big prediction though. You are looking okay as of now that his career will be close

The interesting thing is that in order for him to truly get to Kawhi's level, he or SGA will likely need to leave OKC. As you point out, we've seen Kawhi be a #1 on a title team...haven't seen that with JDub and won't as long as he and SGA are on the same team.
