Lupke stays in my book. Deuce was a good story, just not long term nfl good.

I am excited we got Blue. He's got something to prove. He is going to get that chance.
Agree on all. Early of course, but I think Luepke will be on the team again (based on who we have now) as will Javonte Williams and Blue. There will be a 4th on the 53. I guess right now that is most likely Sanders? As much as we like 7th rounders they really seldom work out or at least year 1 (I'm hoping the nose does also). I was surprised we cut Malik Davis so soon. I can't imagine Deuce making the 53. He shouldn't have been on it last year. As you said great story. I know we all had high hopes and hoped he'd succeed but it was pretty obvious he went down too easily with arm tackles, the quickness was good but not great and he doesn't run down on STs. That's the one thing Mafah looks like he may have over Sanders. I don't know about either, but I 'm guessing Sanders isn't running down on STs and Mafah looks like he will.

Also still very early. Don't be surprised to see us pick up another RB or two. One thing I like the most about this new regime (Probably second to the fact that they actually have a vision for what they want the team to be and a plan to get there) is they got back to the Parcells churn the bottom of the roster mentality. We just have the same backups year after year because we are familiar with them, but they aren't any good. OL and some other groups already look like a complete overhaul. RB going to be as well. This team was stale and needed an infusion of talent at all levels. Still a ways to go.

I've read a lot of people saying to keep an eye on this kid. I wonder if the spitting incident is the difference between going in the 7th round and going UDFA. With how weak the bottom of our WR depth chart is, why not? if not the 53 maybe the PS but I am very interested to read about how he does when the team hits Oxnard later in the July. As we sit here today, we are still CeeDee and a bunch of JAGs. Someone step up...anyone!!!

Was listening to a post draft wrapup yesterday. Supposedly the 2nd round targets that they really wanted were Judkins and Burden but they were really happy that Ezeiruaku fell to them. Also the other option at #12 was supposedly Nolan.

I was going to make this it's own thread, but with only two left I didn't think it was worth it.
there has been a boat load of positive around here. Our new head coach has made some great "coach speak " talking points this weekend. Really pounded his mission statement for quality improvement within the area of his control.

For the last 25 years it has been about the sense of entitlement within the halls of jerry world.

I remain optimistic.

My optimism is staying in my back pocket. At least until I see hope on the field.

i understand. Just don't take the cheese.

I've seen it all...from the late 60's Next Year's Champions era to jerry's entitlement era.

Maybe I'm wrong in thinking about flyer on Bond is a good idea.

Bryant Broaddus, says there's more, he won't say what but says it's "Dark Things"

Interesting. I had never heard of any issues until the sexual assault. I back dated a couple of searches to before the sexual assault news came out. These first two are really more blogs I haven't heard of than reputable sources, so not something I'd put any weight in at all if not for your post, but apparently the character concerns were out there before hand. The Browns wire website I've read a lot. As you said, maybe this is why he hasn't been signed even as an UDFA? Not just the sexual assault (not to say that isn't really bad by itself) but there may be a concur that there is a lot more out there than just one incident?:

Character Concerns

The biggest issue with Bond’s draft profile is the apparent character concerns that have come to the surface in recent weeks. While nothing specific has been reported, Steve Palazzolo, a respected NFL analyst with the 33rd Team, had some concerning comments.

“We’re in Jermaine Burton off-field territory is what I’ve heard from multiple sources… it wasn’t great across Alabama and Texas,” said Palazzolo during a recent podcast.

For those unaware, the Cincinnati Bengals took a shot on Burton in the third round of last year’s draft and he proceeded to create several issues, ranging from failing to fulfill team responsibilities to legal issues.

If Bond is indeed in Burton “territory” that’s a huge red flag. Regardless of how talented he is, if Bond can’t conduct himself as a professional and stay out of trouble, he’ll have a hard time finding his footing in the NFL.

and another:
At 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, Bond doesn't fit the typical mold of a Green Bay wideout, as LaFleur tends to like bigger receivers. However, as the Georgia native ran a 4.39 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine, LaFleur may choose to ignore the size element in this case.

That said, though, size may not be the only turnoff here.

For starters, some have raised concerns about Bond's character stemming from his transfer from the Crimson Tide to the Longhorns ahead of this past season.

Then, there's the fact that he didn't post big numbers in 2024, catching 34 passes for 540 yards with five touchdowns, adding another 98 yards and a score on the ground.

To that end, however, one undoubtedly has to take into account that Bond was the second option behind Matthew Golden, who most view as one of the top three receivers in this year's draft class.

And:
Bond has questions that need to be answered as well. After transferring from Alabama to Texas, Bond saw a steep decrease in production and was out-produced by Houston transfer and now likely first round pick Matthew Golden. I have also heard from Texas staffers and scouts that larger character concerns remain inside the team facility and outside of it.

The Browns hold the 103rd overall pick in the draft, and that would be the pick that would make sense for Bond if he slips due to character concerns. There is no doubting the talent. He is a burner, has an unbelievable feel for sinking his hips and getting out of breaks, and is an easy separator.

If he checks some boxes and holds some answers the Browns are looking for, he could be their next dart throw early on Day 3 or even late on Day 2 in the compensatory pick range.

They signed Hardy so anything is possible. Bond could become a Cowboy if Jerry likes him.
I think it's just a matter of how long Jerry sits in the back seat, because you know he is wanting to do this. It came out that he made the Lance deal himself without talking to anyone. This could be one of those. I'm starting to feel it's more like what Manster posted. The teams knew of other character issues going back to Alabama so this as much a last straw as it is a one time reaction to what may be (I don't think he was charged?) criminal charges.
