I mean it's laughable to compare Hurts and Dilfer. Hurts is actually good and all.

Dilfer's stats the year they won the SB:

48% cmp%, 147.5 ypg, 3 total TD's, 7 yards rushing total, 85.2 QB rating.

Hurts last year:

71% cmp%, 181.5 ypg, 10 total TD's, 194 yards rushing total, 108.1 QB rating. And those were accumulated in one game being a blizzard, and him not even finishing the NFCCG or SB.

Since Hurts became the full time starter he's avg 219.5 ypg, 45 rushing ypg, 131 total TD's. Hurts has more TD's in his last 4 seasons than Dilfer did for his entire playing career.

If you're going to pick a game manager, at least pick a good one.

Shhhhh… let them continue to trash our QB. That shit is fuel for a driven coaches kid. All that matters is winning and wherever Jalen Hurts is - that team usually wins.

I'd take Daniels because of his age and contract. I think after the top 4, 5-9, are interchangeable. At any rate, Daniels and Hurts are in the same tier IMO.

Also, it's not like other QB's don't have elite talent around them. Lamar had 4 other pro bowlers on offense. Burrow has Higgins and Chase. Mahomes had Hill and still Kelce. Josh Allen I would say doesn't. But he's most definitely better than Hurts. I just don't see people penalizing Mahomes, Lamar or Burrow because of their weapons. And again I'm not comparing them to Hurts, but there is no great QB with zero weapons.

Dilfer was a bad QB though. Even when he lead the ravens to the SB, he wasn't good at any point. It's not like he took care of the ball, like a good game manager would. Between INT's and fumbles he almost had 2 per game.

Hurts obviously didn't light it up threw the air, like Burrow or Allen, but he was still top 5 in yards per attempt. Top 10 in QBR and CMP%. When I think game manager, I think Alex Smith in KC. But I think Hurts is overall better than him.

Part of the reason why the Eagles had exceptional defensive stats is their ability to possess the ball and keep the defense off the field. Hurts is never given credit for the work he does in the run game:
1. The defense has to devote a defender to Hurts keep on run action.
2. Hurts is in control of determining where the play should be run/ what play should be run.

Guys who don’t know the game think that you can judge QB play solely from passing stats. It’s why people fawn over guys like Herbert despite the fact that he’s a loser.

Yeah, but if we're taking into account OL, the Ravens have a great one as well. Throw in Henry and Zay Flowers, and Andrews it's pretty good.

Hurts is no game manager, he is a good QB. But he is not near the top group of elite, I will die on the hill that had he played his entire career in Arizona we would have a totally different opinion of Jalen Hurts.

Not sure why Birds fans can't address this. He has been in as perfect a situation as any QB will ever enjoy in the NFL and has been in this position for his entire career. This obviously allowed him to perform better than he would have on a bad team with little help, which is really how to judge a QB.

I disagree. Is Terry Bradshaw a good QB? Is Troy Aikman a good QB?

This is all well said. He doesn't get credit for what he does in the run game, and there are a lot of designed runs, just outside of the tush push. Hurts doesn't have the arm of Herbert, he'll not even Lawrence, but all he does is win, and performs great in the playoffs.

Hurts has become such a social media lightning rod for content. Like I said earlier, I love that shit because it fuels that guy. Dude will have another season with a brand new OC to break in. This has been his life going back to college ball.

Flowers solid...he'd be Philly 3rd option though. andrews decent and of course Kelce was a star. WRs there other than Hill are mostly pedestrian.

Have to say as good as Ozzie and Decastro have been was a surprise to learn Flowers was the first ever Pro Bowl WR for the Ravens. And, really, he's an iffy choice.

Wow, I didn’t know he was their first ever Pro Bowl receiver. He’s a good receiver, he emerged as a WR1 last season and I think he’ll continue to get better, but he’s not elite, at least not yet. For the QBs we are discussing, Hurts has an elite WR in Brown and Burrow has an elite WR in Chase, Mahomes doesn’t have an elite receiver now, he had one with Tyreek and of course he has an elite TE with Kelce although his production has dropped lately. Allen had an elite receiver in Diggs, but Allen had his best year last season with no elite players around him, that was very impressive.

Mahomes and Allen really don't have weapons. Although next year maybe Mahomes will be armed again. The thing is, if Hurts lost some of his weapons but still had the oline and defense, he'd still win games just like Mahomes and Allen because the Eagles had the #1 defense last year. Top defense and a good QB is a darn good formula.

195 average passing yards in 2024 screams play to your strengths, as does 24 passes per game.

Barkley is Batman but Jalen is a fine Robin.

I was comparing Hurts SB season to Trent's SB team. Jalen has had much better passing years before last year and his career is much better than Dilfer's

Sanders had his best year in 2022 but he is not a top level RB. The bottom line is is that Hurts had an MVP caliber season in 22 and almost won the Super Bowl without a top tier RB, so acting like Saquon is the only reason Hurts has been good isn’t correct. The Eagles are not my team but I’ve watched them plenty. You seem like a hater.

So we go from mediocre RB to his best season. Pick one. No one here is calling Sanders a top 3 RB but calling him mediocre where he put up almost 1400yds from scrimmage and 11TDs most definingly helped Hurts achieve MVP caliber season. Not a hater just calling out bullshit.

Sanders had a great statistical season for rushing yards and rushing average - hence the ProBowl nod. However other RBs also did well behind the Eagles great OL and Sanders had limitations, particularly as a receiver. The Eagles didn't retain him for 2023 and his 4 year $25.4M contract with the Panthers shows what the NFL thought of him.

I'm not denying Sanders injuries. Yes he was limited because of them but 2022 he was the Eagles first 1000yd back since Shady in 2014. Also his ypc were very good as an Eagle. Yes I get why Eagles let him go.

Yeah he's way better than Dilfer. But I don't see him as 5th either. Would you turn down a trade of Daniels straight up for Hurts? I didn't think so. Obviously age and contract is a consideration but straight up Daniels is clearly better IMO.

Again we can't discount how his situation has contributed to his reputation. Any number of QBs playing on that team will be elevated and considered better then they are now, quiet possibly as good as you consider Hurts to be. And I'm convinced had he played in Jacksonville you would have a different opinion of Hurts.

I liked Daniels the best out of the draft but still a very small sample size. Yes you take a straight up trade for Hurts cause of his proven track record, 2 SB appearances and 1 title.
