Giants are currently tied with the As with 10 cuppos this year. Tomorrow they will take the lone lead.

Birdsong has been up to 99 mph recently and has piled up strikeouts at every level. Giants have to be careful with adding prospects to 40-man, but he seems like a great candidate to help the bullpen even after their rotation gets healthy.

The unseen REAL cost of getting slammed by injuries is having to place un-DFA-able assets on the 40 before they are ready. Birdsong may be the toughest example of this we have seen yet this year.

Hayden Birdsong made 2 starts with the Sacramento River Cats, allowing 5 earned runs in 9 innings with 14 strikeouts and 5 walks. He was originally a 6th-round pick by the Giants in 2022. Good mid-90's fastball with carry through the zone that he pairs with a curveball...

Birdsong 100% looks like that photo of all the Orioles prospects who look exactly alike

I have hopes for this guy
His hitting in the minors has been meh and the Giants had him slow down on base stealing (in prep for his Giants debut in probably. Can’t have base stealers up here). Hope his defense is better than Matos because the fawning over his glove coming up versus what it was has me leery

Yeah, but we only get snippets of these guys when they are yo-yo'd. Matos' rep with the glove is good. I'd default to that.
