2023 prediction thread

This is wildly optimistic to me but hope you're right. It's baseball so 2021 could always happen again or something like it where everything goes right for some reason. It's just not very likely.

I'm not asking for 26 more wins as in "2021 could always happen again". That's straw man logical fallacy. I'm thinking 9 more wins as a result of some well-placed additional spending ($162mm in 2022 vs $214mm in 2023) that shored up glaring weaknesses in critical areas, some return to form of key veterans (Crawford, Desclafini, Yaz to an extent), and some reasonable improvement of the younger guys (Bart, Sabol, Villar, some bullpen guys). That is not "wildly optimistic", or "not very likely".

I think that your threshold for "wildly optimistic" is different than some others. Personally, I think that you are expecting a lot of breaks to go the right way. There are a lot of question marks. If they do all go well, then I do expect 90+ wins (which, I think, is what msgkings322 is referring to with "2021 could always happen again"). I think some of us aren't expecting all the breaks to go the team's way.

I'm talking considerably less than that. If they get ALL the things I mentioned , then yes, we could be looking at 100+ wins. THAT is "wildly optimistic" and getting "all the breaks to go the team's way".

I just mentioned several factors that COULD well go our way. We don't need ALL of them for 90 wins.
