Levis, Mayer and Porter still on the board is shocking. Hooker going first round was smoke. I thought Minn would of pulled he trigger on a QB in the first round.

Day one thoughts…

What was Detroit thinking?

As for our pick, Forbes is interesting but I question taking any player weighing under 170 in the first three rounds. Gonzalez went the pick after so that says NE is thankful.

I agree Detroit this some crazy things. The did trade down and pick up an 2nd which makes them have 3 2nds but they lost out on all the top defensive players. Seattle taking Spoon must have spooked them. I guess they weren't high on Gonzo at all. This guy had to drop for a reason,. Gibbs and Campbell were huge reaches. Now that what you call a reach skinsdad, not Wright.

We were locked in On Forbes. Huge love for this guy predraft. Didnt matter that Gonzo was there.

According to Kiem, Mayhew said they got zero calls from anyone wanting to trade into 16. Skins didn't like what Gonzalez put on tape in the Georgia game.

I really liked Gonzalez, but Forbes was on my list as one of the four or five guys I wanted them to draft at 16 or later.

I knew it! There were no trade offers. No one was willing to come up for Levis Gonzo, or Hooker. Gonzo had to slip for a reason. They loved Forbes and the media knew it. He definitely passed Porter and banks on their Cb depth chart. Forbes had way more production than Gonzo in college and played against better teams. The weight didn't bother them.

Yeah I was still wondering this morning the thought process of taking Forbes over Gonzalez but I did remember that Fobes played in the SEC which is pretty much NFL light. Time will tell.

Gotta get some offensive lineman in here tonight.

Alot of good guys on the board. Hopefully Levis and hooker go before us to push people down. Im hoping Avial and Torrence are still there. If Mayer falls, he has to be the pick.

I think this could be a case where front office didn’t think there was any chance Gonzo would be there so they looked at the top 1 or 2 guys behind them as their best bet to be there. Then it became a situation where they got comfortable with Forbes tape and being the pick so either 1 they had looked at Forbes so much that they took the guy they spent their time on and/or they didn’t have the nuts to take the better player that fell to them because they had done zero research on the guy so it would have purely been taking the guy because he was ranked better

Not sure we can afford to take Mayer and push oline to 97. Mayer at 47 would be unreal though, I must admit. Lol

I put nothing past this group. They draft pretty well for the most part though.

Mayer in the 2nd would be a huge steal. I know the oline suffer but he is too good to pass up.

Good value there for sure, but I really like Musgrave too and I think he could be there at 97. Wouldn't mind John Michael Schmitz either.

Musgrave at 97? Im not sure about that. I think Mayer wont get past the Packers in the 2nd round. Would you use our 4th to move up in the 2nd to get mayer?

I wouldn't. Plus they way they have been talking up their TEs, i could see them draft one but I don't see them trading up for one.

You don’t trade down and then take the second best RB that high. Then they reached huge on Jack Campbell.

Gonzo dropped all the way to 17 and ended up with NE…would you like to know how good he will be because of where he landed?

Detroit was foolish but Wright at 10 is a reach.

Detriot blew the first round IMO. I disagree with you on Wright. He was talked up alot during the draft process. A Bears fan came to our board and said the Bears loved him. I knew he would of went ahead of Jones surpised he went ahead of Skono

Gonzo did not perform against Georgia and that bothered us. He played in the weaker conference and didn't have the production that was even close to Forbes. They felt Forbes was the better fit for JDR scheme. They didnt want a William Jackson situation. Gonzo landed in a good place with BB. J. Willaims and Burks were rated higher than Dotson in last years draft but I m glad we got Dotson. Forbes makes plays and he is a ball hawk. Gonzo showed no evidence that he can do that.

If you are too lite you can add weight, if you are too heavy you can lose it.

You cant teach instinct, and I think thats what they see in this kid. That and if he turns side ways he is invisible which adds to the six pick sixes he had in college. :)

Guys who played the game at the highest level love him. (Smoot, Jalen Ramsey) You never know but it just seems like he's a fit and really helps to round out this defense.
