They didn't wait till the deadline.
OK, but maybe Cavs had other players they were after and it was take it or leave it? Didn't want to risk getting nothing....also thinking his injury history factored in.

I like this deal for the Cavs but wouldn't call it a fleecing.

This squad is starting to feel a bit like 2014 Warriors. I really like the makeup of this team. Putting together a lot of solid pieces with young developing players. Have some good vets in there to push the squad. Just need a catalyst for either Mobley or Garland to take that next step to superstar and you'll have a legit contender for years to come.

Think you'll eventually need to deal Sexton and maybe Markkanen to get one more high end piece. If you're able to do that, then the Cavs can take a big leap forward.
That was the year before they made their big step, they had a tough series vs the Clippers but played them toe to toe.

Exactly. That's what I feel like this team has. I think you're still a year removed from being legitimate top tier contenders. But the development of those guys is what you want to see this year. Add in some playoff experience...potential is there.

he had a bad ankle sprain and has missed the last 7 games. Garland has missed the last 4 games.

Hopefully Garland will be back in the next game or two, and Markkanen in a week or two.
Guessing after the break for LM?

I honestly don't have either getting out of the 1st round.

But, I can see the Cavs having a better chance to make it to the 2nd round in the East.

The Grizz would beat the Clippers and the Wolves.

Not sure about the Lakers and I would take Nuggets and the Mavs over them if they are healthy.
So hard to peg what the Cavs might do. Finals would shock me but could see anything from bounced quickly in round 1 to making ECF.....though more likely ceiling for first trip to playoffs for most would be win one series.

Yeah, as good a season as they have had I don't see the Cavs beating any of the top 6 teams. They could win a game or 2 but no way they win a series.......vs the Raps? That could go the max but I'd take the Raps.

Having said that, this has been a great season for them and they ahead of schedule. The playoffs are just a different animal.
No doubt tough to win a series as a very young team with many guys getting first taste but "no chance"? Many on the Hawks and Suns got their first taste last year and did OK.

If you fall to.4 or 5, that would be a tough matchup against Philly.

I see the standings out East shifting a lot in the next 25 games.

I don't think we will have a clear picture until the last week of the Season.

Matchups matter more out East.

I don't care who gets the 7th and 8th seed in the West.

As currently constructed, those teams are going home in 6 against the Dubs or Suns.
No doubt it would not be easy think shane only disagreed with the notion we'd have "no chance".

Love and Rondo are the only ones with a lot of playoff experience.
Might not have a lot but Allen has some. Other than CP not sure which Suns had a lot last season.

I have no idea how Cavs and Sixers will match up. I don’t understand how others are so certain. We haven’t seen a single game between the 2022 versions of the squads. And being real, the Sixers seem to find a way to shit the bed in the playoffs.

I feel like the NBA really needs to roll with this and find out how they compare.....make our stars sign affordable deals, plan a cap spike at just the right time. Oh, somehow make Cleveland a desirable city for an elite FA to join this group when the time is right.

Would be stunning if Miami isn't a top 2 seed

to a normal human the answer would be easy i think.

I have been told that since the Knicks are in a bigger market they have a much bigger chance than the Cavs at winning another title.

nevermind ownership or scouting or players or coaches, etc.
The Knicks could not win a championship 10 or 100 years from now in the G league!
