What is Portland doing?

Is Nurk and CJ next?

They dumped Powell for a half eaten twinkie.

Lakers could have used Covington.

With the say Simons came on, he and cj are both redundant next to dame.

You don’t need 4 guards making 120m combined

I don’t think he’s overrated at all. Everyone knows what his strength is. He is just a plus defensively overall because of how good his help d is.

And help d is typically more valuable than one on one.

It’s why guys Toney Douglas and Avery Bradley were fringe nba players
If you watched him night in and night out I’d think you’d come to the same conclusion I did.

Isn't he expiring?

I don't see him being long-term.
Saw that comment in the other thread and it sounds about right on timing. I think that deal was initially done with the Sixers for 3 or 4 so yeah should be coming due.

I just think what your conclusion is at this point isn’t a secret.

Teams know he’s not an elite one on one defender

The thing is, with Simons breakout, they won’t miss Powell. It’s borderline lateral.

And getting Keon is a nice get since he was a first rounder last year

He's a light in the ass version of PJ Tucker.

If he gives you anything on offense, great.

Because, he will try his best to give you everything on defense.

He fits the Clippers playbook.

Switch everything.

I’m kind of shocked they couldn’t find better for Powell and an expiring deal.
5 years of Powell is a very long time

They could like Johnson more than others

The second round pick is probably to dump Winslow and stay under the tax lol

In that regard (switching) he really does fit that mold for a team that employs that. He’s not a liability at least on switches 1-5 (most 5s).

Yeah Simons emergence changes everything, move off the Powell long-term + a 2nd and Keon

He’s 28 though. 3 of the 5 should be the best of his career.

Yup.

Morris, Batum, George, Kawhi, Mann, Covingron, Powell...

Well, lets see if all these guys are Clippers when Kawhi and George come back.

But they have a guy who is younger, cheaper and arguably close to as good as him who they also need to pay this summer anyway.

They were in a tough spot, getting Johnson for him is a nice get.

Imo, This trade doesn’t happen if Simons stayed on his level from last year

I’m sorry but I’m gonna make this about the Sixers again…

This could be an unintended drawback of Simmons saga in Philly. Maybe Morey is so locked in on Ben situation or he has pissed off other GMs with his demand that maybe he’s sleeping at the switch on stuff he could get the Sixers. Sixers as constructed have a big hole at wing with Thybulle/DG (solid bench guys; neither should start on a team with goals). Powell would have fit this group nicely.

Houston used to use him as a small ball 5.
