I love how you always assume the refs don’t know the rules whenever they get a call wrong.

They all know the rules. But they often make mistakes in application or assessment of what actually happened.

Remember, they do not have benefit of replay for calls like these. If they did, they would get it right 100% of the time.

Because they know the rules.

Vogel’s rotations seem complicated at times.

That was a clear mistake by Melo and a mistake a vet can’t make. While I can’t imagine a scenario where Vogel would want a defender to leave ball side to double 3 passes away, when you have highly complicated defensive rotations, players are more likely to make mistakes.
