Its mind blowing ... are puck battles banned too? Theres more close contact in that than hits ... Why cant they figure out a cohort/contract tracing model and let them play normal hockey?

The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced that the League is pausing its activities from December 1, 2020 to January 3, 2021. The decision was communicated to QMJHL Members and General Managers during a meeting held earlier today.

“The current situation with the pandemic in the regions in which we operate makes it extremely difficult to play games,” shared Commissioner Gilles Courteau. “With the Holidays just around the corner, the provinces in the Maritimes have restricted access and travel, while red zone restrictions in Quebec do not permit us to play.”

I like junior hockey, but if they're only going to play 15-20 games, is it worth it?

If you put a CHL all star team against a USHL all star team does the USHL keep the deficit below 15 goals?

The only argument that I can see for it is that this isn't like the NCAA where you still have however many years of eligibility left if the season gets wiped out. These kids lose a season regardless of whether or not they play. So in that regard you can make an argument I suppose. But still is it worth it overall? I don't think so.

This year the NCAA has not counted this year against players eligibility, regardless of whether they actually played a full season.
