The issue is that the starting point bears no resemblance to where actual fan bases are. Or did you grow up cheering for the D1 school that was fewest miles from your county?

If you start with a silly assumption, then it doesn’t matter “how it works”. A Risk board makes a lot more sense.

You also just get huge territories out west because no one lives there, but those teams don’t have many fans.

The other is that the order of the schedule probably matters too much, but that’s a more minor point.

in no way shape or form did at any point did anyone say a single word about where the fans are. This map, this concept has nothing to do with where fans are. I grew up in the county where Oregon is so yeah i did.

A risk board is divided among geographical and or political or old political lines.
the West coast of the united states is grouped with states running to the Dakotas, nebraska and Kansas. How that 1 region makes sense to you but giving WSU land into Idaho and Montana doesnt then I dont get your reasoning.

huge chunks out west? look at the original map from week 0. Minnesota has more land than any Pac school besides UW only because they get Alaska.
Pretty sure UMass and BC both have more than like half the Pac.

and again this has nothing to do with people. its land and distance.

Order of schedule does matter but if a team goes undefeated and all the teams they play lose every game they only get the land they started with and the land of the first team they beat. even a bowl win doesnt mean land if the opponent loses the last regular season game.

I don't understand what the complications are ... you win you get territory formerly held by the team you beat ... My area is own by Kentucky because Kentucky beat Eastern Michigan. I feel scared because the SEC is going to own us for awhile.
