Shohei Ohtani was announced on Monday as the winner of the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year award.

Ohtani wound up easily topping Miguel Andujar, who had a fantastic rookie campaign in his own right. He just couldn't match up with Ohtani's historic dual-threat season, even though it was a bit abbreviated. Ohtani posted a 3.31 ERA and 63/22 K/BB ratio over 51 2/3 innings across 10 starts for the Angels while also batting .285/.361/.564 with 22 home runs and 61 RBI

Ronald Acuna was announced on Monday as the winner of the 2018 National League Rookie of the Year award.

Acuna was seen as the favorite over Juan Soto, although the vote was expected to be close. As it turns out, it wasn't, as Acuna received 27 of 30 first-place votes, with Soto picking up two and Walker Buehler one. Acuna rode a monster second half to a final batting line of .293/.366/.552 with 26 home runs for the Braves.

Athletics manager Bob Melvin has been named the 2018 American League Manager of the Year.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora and Rays manager Kevin Cash both had strong cases, but Melvin was the obvious choice here. He led a club with the lowest Opening Day payroll to a 97-65 regular-season record, fourth-best among all major league teams and a 22-win improvement over the previous year. Melvin, who also won NL Manager of the Year in 2007 and AL Manager of the Year in 2012, inked a multi-year contract extension with the A's late last month.

Braves manager Brian Snitker has been named the 2018 National League Manager of the Year.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell and Rockies manager Bud Black were the other two finalists. Snitker took home the hardware with 17 of the 30 first-place votes after guiding the upstart Braves to 90 regular-season wins and their first postseason appearance since 2013. The National League East champs spent 115 days in first place and didn't have a losing streak longer than four games.

Well, it is easy when they would have gotten it right with Kluber and Mad Max too...

Disagree.

Kluber didn't garner a single 1st place vote, and had an ERA a full run higher than Snell.

Little more of an argument for Scherzer, but was up against the best SP season in all of baseball, IMO.

The 2 Cy's both had ERA+ north of 200. Don't recall that ever happening before.

I really don't see an argument for Kluber over Verlander.

I am still not 100% positive Snell Deserves the CY...

I don't like that he averaged under 6 innings per game, did not reach 200 innings, and only had 19 QS

and compared to his 20 win companion Corey Kluber, who had well over 200 innings, averaged over 6 innings per start and had 25 QS...

I Think Kluber might deserve it MORE... Despite the BIG ERA difference...
You look at Klubers numbers outside of his International League division?

Mookie Betts was named the winner of the 2018 AL MVP Award on Thursday.

It wasn't close, with Betts taking 28-of-30 first-place votes. Mike Trout finished second for the fourth time in his career with one first-place vote, with Jose Ramirez coming in third. J.D. Martinez got the other vote and finished fourth. It was a sensational year for the 26-year-old Betts, hitting .346/.438/.640 while hitting 32 homers, stealing 30 bases and scoring 129 runs while also providing some of the best defense in the outfield that we saw in 2018. It's the first MVP for Betts, but considering his age and talent, it shouldn't shock anyone if it's not his last.

Christian Yelich was voted the 2018 NL MVP Award winner on Thursday.

Not a surprise. Yelich received 29-of-30 first-place votes, with Jacob deGrom getting the other vote and finishing fifth. Javier Baez finished second, with Nolan Arenado coming in third. Yelich was dominant in 2018 -- particularly after the All-Star break -- and hit .326/.402/.598 while blasting 36 homers, stealing 22 bases and driving in 110 runs for the NL Central champions. He'll turn just 27 in December, so if he keeps this up -- no easy task, to be sure -- another MVP could come his way before his career ends.
