Quite commendable by Finau. That had to be painful for sure to play on all weekend.
You turned out to be right. I was shocked that Spieth was able to momentarily tie for the lead from 9 behind. He choked at the end but did well until then. Fowler hung tough as well. But I was surprised at how many guys had a shot still with just a few holes left. I thought it would be just Reed and McIlroy. I did not expect McIlroy to collapse so badly.
Hmm, shooting a 63, 1 stroke shy of the course record is choking??
He did well to even put himself into contention
Oh come on, you can't look at it that way
Spieth went 8 under with Sunday pins at Augusta ...a nearly impossible feat.
His round of -8 made Rory's round of 2 over inexcusable.
spend a lot of time there?
Yep - he clipped a tree on his drive - a slightly different path & he is likely in good shape for his 2nd shot. The fact that he even had a par putt is pretty damn good. He missed a relatively easy putt in the end & made a boogie. Just about all of the other golfers - including the winner - did similar yesterday at some pt.
Choking would be like Van de Velde really screwing up the final hole in The British Open years ago when he had no business not winning that tourney. And of course you could probably make a case for Spieth choking a few years ago on the 12th hole on the final round. I love the fact that Spieth was basically making fun of that with his longish tee shot on 12 yesterday (which he amazingly converted to a birdie).

Get off of Spieth's nuts. He fucked up badly on 18 on Sunday and on Thursday. It cost him the tournament. Get over it; Reed whipped him.in no world is 64 on a Sunday choking.
And it wasn't like he put is drive in the woods, it was just unlucky that it clipped the tree limb.
I'll bet late last night he paid somebody to climb that tree and cut that limb off.
Spieth played a brilliant round, that's for sure.Tough way to end a round when you're tearing up Augusta on sunday. That said, no perfect day in golf. You're gonna have some misses. 9 birdies and no bogeys until 18. Sometimes 18 at Augusta can do that to even the best golfers.
Except he didn't shoot 63. he did play well though until 18.Hmm, shooting a 63, 1 stroke shy of the course record is choking??

3 times?64 has been shot how many times in a final round of a Masters?
I'd say he got unlucky then made a great effort to give himself a chance for par after that bad luck but to each his own.Yep...I know flamed out sounds like he crashed and burned and I don't mean that obviously, but wouldn't par on 18 kept him at -14?
Unfortunately as a chaser trying to win, you can't afford to go backwards unless you get help from the leader so yeah, he flamed out on 18. A 2 shot lead on the 18th tee feels a whole lot more comfortable than a 1 shot lead so if not for Rickie, Jordan would've afford him that 2 shot cushion.
64 was a helluva round, but he knows he needed to post -14 and he had it in his grasp.
They said there that the system has heat and ac. Obviously the heat knocks out morning frost but the ac seems like overkill.lol...the greens did get subair system installed sometime ago. Reportedly they were put in to get the course back in playable shape as quickly as possible after a rain. idt they do much more than suck out moisture. Heat and AC I'm not sure about, but I wouldn't put it passed them.
Interesting, one of our clients knows a member and he's played it several times. The course is actually closed for most of the summer. That kinda makes sense with Bentgrass greens. The few courses that have continued with bent greens are awesome in spring and fall, but they taking a beating in July/Aug.

LOL! Point taken. My apologies, he did shoot a 64.
Fuckin choker
