Wow! So the Seahawks won't be winning any Super Bowls in the next four years. That's almost 20% of their salary cap for Wilson alone. No team has ever won the Super bowl with a QB hit of even close to 15% and the average is just 6.9%.

They just hamstrung themselves from getting the position players they need. I know 'Hawks fans love Wilson (and rightfully so) but that's a terrible contract that will mire this team in mediocrity for half a decade before an eventual parting of ways and a rebuild.

Vaguely. I think they classify it as a hard cap because they don't have a luxury tax system.

But most contracts are only partially guaranteed, there's frequent renegotiations, and they can cut players while incurring 'dead cap' hits that are calculated somehow based on the AAV vs. the actual cash paid but without having to pay out any remaining cash.

It's complicated. Very complicated.
