That DETROIT game was a bad thing to bring back the unwatchable plate discipline again.

This team got right back into its free-swinging stupidity thanks to some bad Detroit pitching.
A few homeruns and they are back to corkscrewing at every single pitch.

they had shown a lot of progress of going the other way, walking, and sac fly type stuff in the KC series.
The strikeouts and inability to show any plate discipline is rearing its ugly head again in Anaheim.

3 total walks in the first 25 innings of the series is not a way to SCORE ANY RUNS.

Agreed. It looked like since the trade deadline that things were starting to click for a lot of guys all around. The pitching still for the most part has been a lot better lately. The offense has definitely hit a slow period, although that trade for Beckham has been paying many dividends thus far. He's been way better than what I ever expected.

Tampa definitely wouldn't have gave him up so cheap if they knew he was going to go 20 for 40, with 9 XBH and an OBP of .512 in his first 10 games with his new team.

So, is BUCK going to stick with his dumbass "playing favorites" style of managing when HARDY/FLAHERTY are back?

There is no sane reason whatsoever to play Hardy over Beckham at this point in time, unless Beckham simply starts struggling so badly down the stretch he needs to be removed later in the year.

Simply putting Hardy back in because he is off the Disabled List is asinine and is not in the best interest of winning.

If he benches Beckham, we will finally see confirmation of what NYY, TEXAS, and ARIZONA have been laughing at us for years about.

FLAHERTY only has value because he is a left-handed hitter. Tejada seems like a superior defensive player.
I can probably live with FLAHERTY over TEJADA if the rationale is simply left handed hittting....but HARDY nope.

Hardy and Flaherty are both free agents at the end of the season. I would be fine if they just cut both of them. Tejada for utility leaves no need for either of them.

Fuck our guys are such morons at the plate sometimes. Rickard and Beckham on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Manny swings at 1st pitch, out. Schoop swings at 1st pitch, out. Learn some fucking patience.

Manny doesn't seem like he wants to be here or he doesn't feel like trying. Hardly runs any balls out at first and his body language seems like he could care less. Maybe they can unload him in the offseason.

Yea pretty crazy. Hopefully its not just a fluke. Would be great to have a .280+ hitter at shortstop the next few years.

"BAL: OF Anthony Santander (Rule 5 pick) will likely be activated from 60-Day DL on Thursday August 17th."

So who goes? Gentry down and Flaherty cut? Rickard down? Santander + Flaherty added Tedjeda + Gentry gone?

I say the latter is most likely.

I think that they'll definitely move Gentry back down to Norfolk for a couple of weeks until September call ups start happening. They also will have to make room for Hardy if he comes back within the next couple of weeks. So as for those other guys, your guess is as good as mine.

I think of the players he listed Flaherty is the safest. He's a LH, and he can play just about any position if need be.

I can see that as well. I just don't see him getting a lot of playing time in September with Hardy coming back, Beckham being hot at the moment and even Tejada being another utility infielder. It'll be like the logjam we have in the outfield.

Can someone enlighten me as to why Buck let Davis face the lefty Rzepczynski with 2 outs in the 9th with Jones on the bench???
