- 247 (Callahan)Ray is expected to be a tough pull for Tennessee, Sterling appears to be one of the Vols’ most realistic options on the defensive line. The three-star prospect, who was committed to Alabama before reopening his recruitment in September, currently is focused on four schools — South Carolina, Tennessee, N.C. State and Georgia — and he’s planning to take official visits to at least South Carolina and Tennessee this month. The 247Sports Crystal Ball currently points to the Gamecocks as the favorites to land him, but the Vols already have hosted him on multiple visits and still appear to have a legitimate shot.
- 247 (Callahan)Conliffe, a four-star prospect, has been one of Tennessee’s top defensive-tackle targets for months, and while he hasn’t been to Knoxville recently, he’s planning to visit the Vols again this month before deciding on a school. Tennessee quietly seems to have positioned itself to be a legitimate contender for Conliffe. Alabama once was believed to be the team to beat for him, but the Crimson Tide now might not have a spot for him if they’re able to land everyone they want. Conliffe has discussed visiting both Tennessee and Alabama this month, and Penn State already has hosted him on an official visit.
- 247DT Elijah Conliffe
Hampton (Va.) defensive tackle Elijah Conliffe is a new name on Florida’s board. Tennessee is the school getting most of the buzz now, but the Gators certainly could make a move with the 6-foot-4, 305-pound prospect having a desire to play in the South. At last check, Conliffe still did not have his January visit plans laid out, but the Vols and Gators are good bets to get him on campus.
Prediction: Tennessee
Quick update: According to his coach, Thomas is planning to visit Tennessee the weekend of Jan. 27.
