I was actually texting with @mr.hockey4242 yesterday about Mauer. I believe it's time to stop treating him like he's still a great hitter, he should not be playing but once or twice a week, he's done! He refuses to change his swing and this team has a chance right now, all he's doing is hurting the team. In yesterday's game he was the only starter for either team without a hit.

The funny thing is that I called the Buxton and Mauer homers tonight. A guy at work came in near the end of my shift and said the Twins were up 4-0 and had hit 3 homers and proceeded to name who hit them before I could get a word in. When I got a chance to respond I said, "I thought you were going to say Buxton, Mauer, and somebody else hit homers." We were laughing at the guys I named being the least likely in the lineup to go deep.

I do think they would have to be nuts not to get what they can for a 34 year old starting pitcher. I would obviously rather they be in a pennant race though...

Depends on the record. If they are 10 games out and are like 57 - 43 I agree but if they are 10 games out and are 43 - 57 I disagree

Management will be really, really historically stupid if we are 10 games out and we don't try and get the type of desperate haul Santana would command.

If he keeps up anywhere close to what he's doing we would get a B level prospect in return, no way we can pass that up ESPECIALLY if it's a pitcher...
