2 hits. 1 BB. Astros win.
Verlander.....like a boss.
Ooh yeah. W.... team W.
That's what you stat boys say is important ...team W.

Verlander....Game 2 for him? Somewhere between a GEM and a CHOKE

(Doug - did you notice that former UM headcoach Rich Rodriguez has his Arizona team at 5-2 this season? Wouldn't it be great if those two teams met in a bowl game.?)

Well....tomorrow Captain Khaki and his troops start a string of 3 games against some weak opponents...Rutgers, Maryland, and Minnesota. Only Minnesota (4-3) has a winning record. With any luck, the tarnished rep of Jimbo Harbaugh could be partly restored with wins in the next three games. He could be sporting an 8-2 record entering the game at Wisconsin. I'm wondering if O'Korn will have been replaced by Peters by then?

If there is ever a time to see what Peters can do on the field, it's against a patsy like Rutgers. That said, we don't see what the coaches see in practice. There has to be a reason other than pure stubbornness that Harbaugh keeps putting O'Krap out there in games.

Steve Garvey called GM 2 - "Millennial Baseball". Garvey is an a-hole, but I have to agree. Half of the hits were HRs. Four of the Dodgers five hits were homers. His complaints....

  • Scoring runs — but not manufacturing them
  • Taking a big swing
  • Striking out
  • Not trying to get the runners over
  • No bunts
  • No hit and runs
This is what the fans and TV, and MLB want....I call it 'John Madden Baseball'...big play after big play. Even GM1 fell into this category a little but there was some balance with some good starting pitching and relief work. Yet, we've seen two WS games dominated by HRs...few flashy fielding plays, ONE stolen base, and a good number of strikeouts (the flip-side of all the homers). Seems almost scripted by TV writers.

big deal, a couple years ago it was "dis is what speed do" and defense and bullpen wins games. A different year and its the way the game is played "now", that changes from year to year.

LOL...if you want the job, you also tell the boss his homely daughter looks like a beauty queen.

to be fair though, maybe he has changed his viewpoint? The D-Backs have seen a pretty big shift in philosophy under Hazen (who was a disciple of Theo).

Doug talks like a big swinging dick...but his football team is #27 and his baseball team is dead last.

Anyone notice how he has jumped on the Astro's bandwagon...like he has been a long time fan? LOL
