Here's Verlander's postseason ERAs by series:

ALDS - 2.15
ALCS - 3.55
WS - 7.20

So he's a tough guy in the ALDS against weaker competition, but as the going gets tougher, he shrinks. When he gets to the biggest stage of the World Series he turns into a puddle of watery shit.

7.20 ERA. lolz

Too bad the Tigers didn't have a guy with heart, like Kluber, as their ace; maybe they could have won a ring instead of getting swept out of the World Series like a bunch of bitches. What an embarrassing representation of the AL Central.

2 starts in 2006. His rookie year.
Take that away...then look at his whole post season record. You must watch CNN. You fake stater

Liar.
Check his ALDS. AND ALCS stats.

"If you pretend the times Justin Verlander got his shit pushed in in the postseason didn't happen, he's awesome in the postseason."

lolz

Seriously though, if you look at Verlander's performances in the postseason, incredibly, the outliers aren't the series in which he got is little raisin balls stomped on, they're the one's in which he pitched well.

He's pitched in eleven postseason series and had an ERA above 5.00 in seven of them.

Hell, the real outlier is the 2013 ALDS when he held a weak-hitting A's lineup scoreless in two starts. You want to talk about taking away outliers, take those 15 innings out of his postseason number and he's got a 4.00 playoff ERA.

When you actually look at the numbers instead of crunching them, can you believe what a sackless twat Verlander really is, @dougplayer?

Doug, you predicted Miggy Cabrera would hit .320 with 30 homers and 120 RBI. Any comment on that? Old age, injuries, bad weather, booze, drug connection cut off? I am sure you have an excuse for him. Excuses are who you are.

Oh, shit. I knew Cabrera wasn't doing well, but I just looked up his numbers. Dios mio. He's as big of a pile of shit as Verlander's been.

.255/.341/.413/.754

Fuck. To put that into perspective, .255/.324/.426/.749 is MLB average this year. lolz. The average major league hitter has more power than Miguel Cabrera.

Scott Schebler (who?) is having a better season than Miggy.

@dougplayer was talking shit about the Indians acquiring Jay Bruce. That drunken Mexican, Cabrera, and his weak ass slugging percentage makes Jay Bruce look like 2002 Bonds.

I guess the good news for Tigers fans is that Miggy is under contract for another six seasons after this one (at an average of $31MM per), so he's got some time to figure it out. lolz.

After looking at Verlander's postseason numbers, I just can't believe what an absolute fraud that guy is.

"Ace"

Give me a fucking break.

Doug, you are right. No need for you to be scared of Jay Bruce. What you SHOULD be scared about is the next 2-3 seasons of the Tiger franchise as they try and change from an old, slow, and over-paid team, to one that has a minor league system and can compete again.
Oh, you might also be scared that the 2017 season of Miggy Cabrera is the forerunner of seasons to come.
Detroit has a few solid young starting pitchers. Fullmer especially. Boyd looks decent. Norris has a nice arm and is young but is far from a sure thing reliable major league starter. Zimmerman was a colossal waste of $.

as far as position players go- the only decent young ones are iglesias and castellanos and i dont think either will be an above average major league player- if average.

I mean- for a long time Detroit was pretty solid and made a lot of win-now moves. That catches up to you after a while and at some point a total rebuild is going to have to happen.

I give the White Sox credit for realizing that and bringing in a ton of very good prospects. I get that Detroit - with the position they were in- made the most sense to try and go for it one more season- but i would expect Detroit to really turn it all over and rebuild this offseason but unfortunately for them they just dont have the players like the White Sox did to bring in so many solid prospects like Koepech, Moncada, Gialito, Jimenez and many more...

I do feel that Detroit has the ability to reload and be in the hunt next year or the year after. The Indians are the best team and the ChiSox were wise to rebuild Cleveland and the Cubs are good. I don't know where Kansas City is going, but if Cleveland takes it's foot off the gas pedal the Royals will be there. The Minnesota Twins will over-perform like they always do ... you gotta have respect for that team.

Good post - Detroit is paying their dues for going balls out for a championship ... I can't be mad at them.
