2017 ACC/B1G Challenge

I swear it seems like we get matched up with Iowa 90% of the time. I could easily look it up but I'm too lazy to

4th time Va Tech has played Iowa, which I would consider a lot. It sucks continually playing the same team every year. The Gophers have played FSU, UVA and Miami, probably like a combined 12 times or some shit like that. It gets annoying.

Based on how both conferences have played his year, I would expect the ACC to win this rather comfortably this year. My winners: Syracuse, UVA, Northwestern, Florida State, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Ohio State, NC State, North Carolina, Minnesota, Boston College, Duke, Michigan State. 10-4 in favor of the B1G.

Illinois has looked okay so far this year, but hasn't played a game away from home yet, so that will be an adjustment. Black and Finke are pretty good front court players so it will be interesting to see how Wake handles them. Wake has the guards to handle the pressure Illinois will throw at them, so that's good. I think Wake will win in a tight contest.

I'd like to see Donovan Mitchell in the starting line up. He's emerged as a strech 4 that Manning loves, but he needs to do a better job of staying out of foul trouble.

Also, please get rid of the Childress/Crawford/Woods/Wilbekin 4 guard lineup look. Wake was on pace to win by double digits against UNCG, then Manning pulled that lineup out his rear end @ the 4:00 mark in the second half and UNCG crawled back in and made it competitive late.

Yeah, I'd agree, that line up hasn't worked this season. Mitchell in the starting line up would be a good move as well IMO. I'd probably start Crawford, Woods, Brown, Mitchell and Moore. But you'd obviously know better than I if that'd be the right move.

That would be the right move, but Manning is really hard on guys that consistently get in foul trouble.

He also did a Sarr/Moore lineup briefly in the first half. Forced UNCG into a TO or two.

I still have no idea what the fuck Maryland was thinking? Every other school (including Syracuse) made sense to move during realignment mania in 2010-13. Only MD is the oddball who moved for no apparent reason other than cash.

I've always wanted another shot at Michigan State. They have had our number the two times we played them in the tournament the past few years. I think a home and home series between those two teams would be fun to watch.
As for the game that happened against Wisconsin, I was surprised to see that UVA didn't get to the free throw line one time the whole game.

I think the Gophers could push them if things fall right. We get that home, and we have a pretty advantageous B1G schedule. It will definitely take beating them at home. We'd have to go something like 14-4 to be in the conversation, which I think the Gophers are capable of. Obviously teams will improve, but based on what's played out thus far, there seems to be a pretty big gap between the top 2 and the rest of the league.
